Re: To Miami on the Lufthansa Airbus A380
Is it on lower deck as quiet as above? I flew the QF A380 twice on my trip to Australia in Eco+ On the 'First Floor' and was amazed how quiet that thing flies. What d'you reckon?
Re: To Miami on the Lufthansa Airbus A380
I was in the front of the lower deck, hence well before the engines, but indeed I had a feeling of quietness. On the return flight I managed to sleep a couple of hours without any noise problem.

FWIW, I flew several times in the upper and the lower deck with AF and LH, and it's generally quiet, a least I wasn't disturbed by the noise, I can't even remember telling me "mm that's noisy" even close to the engines on the lower deck.
BTW, great report -as usual- André, thanks!

Today A380 Lufthansa flight LH462 FRA-MIA returned to Frankfurt because of a flap problem and made a high speed landing (170 kts) one hour after take off. Firetrucks were following flight LH462 after landing at Frankfurt Airport.
Glad I flew last month and not today...

Incident: Lufthansa A388 at Frankfurt on Apr 8th 2015, could not retract flaps
A Lufthansa Airbus A380-800, registration D-AIME performing flight LH-462 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Miami,FL (USA) with 366 passengers, was climbing out of Frankfurt's runway 25C when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 reporting they could not retract the flaps. The aircraft entered a hold at FL100, then FL140 and FL150 before returning to Frankfurt for a safe landing on runway 25C about 80 minutes after departure.
A replacement Airbus A380-800 registration D-AIMC is estimated to reach Miami with a delay of 5 hours.
