AvroRider, all ryanair pilots and aircraft are CATIII certified! I suggest you put your money where your mouth is and don't comment on something you know nothing about!

You, me and everybody do comment a doctor's job : did he took good care of me, did he cure me ? There are good doctors and no so good doctors, yes of course.AvroRider wrote: You do not comment a doctor's job so don't comment a pilot's job.
As for the pilots, like in most other professions, there are a few outstanding ones, a lot of average and a few bad pilots - more or less a Gauss (bell) curve.
IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.
Re: Snow predictions for Brussels Airport (and other airport
Yes,but it has nothing to do with landing or diverting at a particular airport at a certain time!
Re: Snow predictions for Brussels Airport (and other airport
Well, sorry, here I have to make a comment as well - as a frequent flyer (+100 flights/year for more than 10 years), but certainly not as an aviation expert.
I fully take the point that your job is complex (as many others are as well by the way ...) and I do trust you and your colleagues quite a lot (otherwise I would not be a frequent flyer
) and I do not want to comment on the details of how you do your job, because I will not be able to judge those details.
OK so far, BUT I am and we are the paying customers and honestly I do not care much, if the problem is because somebody has no CAT I or CAT II approval or whatever ... I want to do receive the service I have paid for, I want the complex job to be done. You know, those non-aviation experts sitting somewhere in rows 1 to ... of the planes you fly around are the ones who pay your company and you
... Of course I do not want you or any other pilot or crew to take any unnecessary risks and yes, if the weather is bad cancellations and diversions will take place, BUT from a customers point of view I could not understand a situation where a plane would need to divert "just" because the airline itself has not all certifications or has no crew which is qualified to the highest standards. Than indeed somebody (!) has made a bad job at this company. If an airline opts for a lower level of certifications in order to save some money and this results in a higher possibility for diversions or cancellations of flights the company should be forced in my view to make this transparent to its potential customers and the same applies if it employs crew members who have not the full qualifications available. Than the customers could make their choice ...
So coming back to the posts above, if I would have been in the situation where one plane of the airline I have booked does fly and some others do not I would expect the company to have a very good explanation of this situation (and I accept there might be one) for me, if they expect me to book with them again ...
As said above, just a view from one of those people paying the salaries of all those aviation experts
...

Re: Snow predictions for Brussels Airport (and other airport
1. I don't know how it came to Ryanair as the flight involved was an EZY one... but never mind...
2. Worst thing is giving lessons when you don't know what you're talking about... You can say a lot about RYR management and ops vs pilots, but certainly not crap like this, and certainly not when pretending being a "pro" yourself, it's really a shame...
3. Who is the good pilot, the one that lands, or the one that decides to give up ?
4. We regularly see pilots trying approaches and land below minima when others are holding, often russian ones... Little wonder why there are so many crashes over there by poor weather..
Not only a/c and crew has to be certified for Cat III, but also the airport, sensitive area, critical area, lighting etc... If for example the previous a/c doesn't vacate fast enough (very low visibility, little knowledge of the field...), the ILS is not safe, and no approach can be initiated.
Finally, perhaps that the 2 other EZY were not allowed to try an approach because of congestion, RWY 02 was in use in EBBR those days, added to LVO, that reduces seriously AD capacity..

Fair enough ! We as aviation professionals I can ASSURE you that we are doing the UTMOST to give you a DECENT service with on top of that the most professional and safest way for your journey from point A to B !euroflyer wrote: I want to do receive the service I have paid for, I want the complex job to be done. So ? Some people do take a bus every day and don't know how to drive it. You go to the bank I don't now how it really works etc...etc...euroflyer wrote:Well, sorry, here I have to make a comment as well - as a frequent flyer (+100 flights/year for more than 10 years)
I was talking about the technical knowledge, not the way you think how the job was done. Completely different.airazurxtror wrote:You, me and everybody do comment a doctor's job : did he took good care of me, did he cure me ? There are good doctors and no so good doctors, yes of course.
BTW : I was wrong about RYR, they are CAT IIIa. My mistake.
