The CEO of Spadel explains in La Libre Belgique today that he does not want a closure of the airport, but a reorganisation of the flight areas that would prevent aircraft to fly over sensitive areas where springs are located.
That is justified by the crashes of two planes in 1995, a helicopter in 1998 and another small aeroplane in 2008. In each of those crashes kerosene was spilled and could have contaminated the mineral water of Spadel had not taken the appropriate measures.
The Walloon Region has thus lied if it pretends that Spadel has asked for the closure of the airport. Or Spadel itself is not saying the truth.
