There is another picture of B747-8i N6067U on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32090718@N05/6467002893

The legend says: N6067U @ EDDF 06.12.2011

Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental N6067U in basic Lufthansa colors - this is the first landing of this type at Frankfurt.
It arrived as flight "BOE021" directly from Boeing Field KPAE/BFI and will perform final handling tests, in preparation of the delivery of the first Lufthansa 747-8Is in 2012.
The aircraft remained indeed in FRA for tests from 6 to 9 Dec 2011.

Now, if the stop in BRU was unscheduled, the people spotting in FRA might not have known.

The other source I found is a forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles-mo ... ead-5.html showing a map from flightradar24 wity flight BOE021 (hex code A7E0E9) just before the landing in FRA. The plane does not seem to come from the direction of BRU, but from a point more North.

Image

Whether this flight landed in BRU or not remains a big mystery...

Yes, people were writing that it was above the North-Sea , half hour before landing.

It seems rather unlikely, almost impossible, to me that nobody would have known about this if it were true. Even if it was unscheduled, more than enough people working at BRU frequent this forum (or others) for at least one to have mentioned it.

I call hoax.

I have asked directly to Brussels Airport, and they have absolutely no recollection of a visit of a 748i in Dec 2011.

Thus they maintain that the first 748 in BRU was the Cargolux on 6/02/2012.

All,

I have received enough evidence in the meantime that I have to conclude that I have been misled.
N6067U did not make a stop in BRU and so LX-VCF was indeed the first B747-8 to visit BRU.
My sincere apologies to those members on this board that I would not believe what you said as well as to Brussels Airport.

Kind regards,
OO-JFP

Hey OO-JFP,

No need to apologize, everybody can say what he believes and it's possible that you were convinced about this topic.
It's good to have such discussions, that's what this website is all about :-)

OO-JFP,

Your mistake was made in good faith. You are excused. It has at least made me discover new tools to check about flights in the past.

B est regards,
