Air Lease Corporation has signed a letter of intent for 15 Embraer 190s and 5 more options. If the deal is firmed up, deliveries will begin in July 2011. Beyond the 15 aircraft, the agreement also includes five options. So not a firm order as noted before.

Thai signed a MoU with Airbus for 7 Airbus A330-300's.
Qatar Airways have exercised options for 2 B777s. But it's still not officially known for wich type, some say -200ER but it will probably be the -200LR. But its also not yet known if it is a new order or a previous "unidentified customer".
And Sukhoi scored again, Bermuda-based leasing company Pearl Aircraft Corp. placed an order for 30 SSJ100's and 15 more options.

Now it's clear. Qatar Airways replaced two options by two firm order for the B777-200LR and they took another 3 options. ALAFCO converted their 12 orders for A350-800s into 12 orders for the bigger A350-900.

I recently heard it went over the $25 billion in total. But I don't know if all orders are already included. This will rise with some more billions, but nobody expects anything close to the record of Farnborough 2008 with 88.7 billion. But this 25 billion is already way above the 7 billion of Paris Airshow 2009.
But this is catalog price, so the actual value is always lower because big orders mostly get big reductions.

The Okay Airways order ( 10 B 738) was also an order wich was already noted by Boeing as unidentified.
American Airlines orders 35 B738's. These are options of a previous order in 2009 converted in firm orders. American said they will have 195 737-800's by the end of 2012. These 738's are replacing the oldest MD80's.
Boeing said it will probably increase their internal order forecast for this year for the 3th time. Their internal order forecast for this year was already increased two times, but the orders are coming fast and Boeing didn't expected that. The market is recovering faster than Boeing (and Airbus) expected they say.
Republic Airlines has signed a letter of intent to buy 24 more Embraer 190 jets.
Qatar Airways is urging Airbus to quickly decide on its A330 cargo conversion strategy or risk losing its business to Boeing. But Airbus is afraid of cannibalising the market for the new-build A330-200 Freighter.
QR wants to convert their oldest A330's as the 788's are starting to arrive end 2011 and they will replace these older A330's.
QR CEO (the famous Akbar Al Baker) said: ""We are talking to Airbus about conversions and if we have no option from them, then we will have to look to Boeing to supply us converted freighters, either 777-200s or 767s, and I'm sure Boeing will oblige." He also said he will absolutly not order the factory new A332F's.

First order on this 4th day of the airshow: Boeing and Azerbaijan Airlines have signed an agreement to substitute two 737-800 airplanes for one 767-300ER (extended range) and two 767 Freighters. All benefit for Boeing!

So if I understand well, actual 1 more order (1 pax, 2 F's) but off course of much higher value. I also discovered that the Orient Thai order is not yet a firm order, it's a LoI. A firm order should be signed later this year they said.
Also Gazpromavia signed a letter of Intent for ten SSJ's.

A surprising order:
The Malaysian investinggroup Crecom Burj Resources confirmed an order for 50 MC-21's. The airplanes should be deliverd from 2016. It will be 25 MC-21-200's (150 passengers) and 25 MC-21-300's (181 passengers). Airliners in South East Asia would be interrested in leasing these MC-21's.
The MC-21 is currently in development with Irkut Corporation and is sheduled to make his first flight in 2014. It's the russian awnser on the B737 and A320.

Nor really a new order, but a funny quote of Airbus CEO Enders commenting the presence of the 787 vs the A400M: "We bring aircraft to air shows to fly them, they (Boeing) bring them to park them".

The only thing I could say is: know your priorities. If Airbus like enjoying the public, than they must do that. But Boeing gives priority to lead customers/future users/journalists/... around the aircraft and hold it for only a few days at the airshow to resume testing after that. Airbus should do the same with their 4 years delayed and 50% over budget, A400M wich is send all over Europe to enjoy the public (the weekend before Farnborough he also did flying displays).

Airbus released a press release with all their orders, MoU's at Farnborough. I don't know if this is the end of their orders at the airshow, but it's possible. They have a press conferention later today, so maybe some A350's or A380's to end the show glorious or just a summary of al their orders this week.
Signalling a clear upturn in the aviation industry, Airbus announced commitments at the 2010 Farnborough Air Show for 255 aircraft, valued at around US$28 billion. The commitments so far include firm orders for 133 aircraft worth more than $13 billion, plus memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreements for a further 122 aircraft totalling around $15 billion.
The firm orders at the show came from GECAS for 60 A320s worth around $4.9 billion; from Air Lease Corporation for 51 A320 Family aircraft worth $4.4 billion; from Aeroflot for 11 A330-300s worth $2.3 billion; from Garuda Indonesia for six A330-200s worth $1.2 billion; and from Germania for five A319s worth $372 million.

Airbus made their own calculation (see previous post). Reuters did it for Boeing: adding up net new orders provisionally makes it 147 planes worth $11,5 billion for Boeing, excluding previous unidentifieds:

It's just very confusing with all the new firm orders, firm orders previously noted, MoU's, LoI's, options, purchase rights... If you don't follow it well, you make mistakes.
Airbus has 133 new firm orders, and combined with the MoU's/... they have 255. If you look at my totals, you can see the same: 133 new orders, 122 MoU's.
So the Airbus numbers are correct and I'm glad I calculated all orders well as I had calculated the same numbers.
But we need to take a look again at the Boeing numbers. Reuters made some mistakes and I don't.
But they forgot one order: Emirates. They placed an order for 30 777's, 18 previously noted but 12 new orders!
That makes 157 new firm orders for Boeing.
Conclusion: We got some nice orders altough not that much widebody's. But we are just recovering from a financial crisis, so we should be very happy.
