Exactly the point I am trying to make....everything suffers when the US economy takes a dive and not just in the US either. If I were Boeing or Airbus I wouldn't be moving some companies from the definately will pay and receive aircraft to the 'maybe a doubt' column.
I am not saying there will be a recession - just repeating what many analysts that know a lot more than me in the US media are saying. You seriously think airlines can avoid a global recession?

US Air reconsiders A350 order; Airbus on defensive
http://tinyurl.com/2dlfy4CHICAGO, March 15 (Reuters) - An internal debate at US Airways Group (LCC.N: Quote, Profile , Research) over whether to proceed with an order for 20 Airbus wide-body A350s spotlights an increasingly precarious relationship between Airbus and one of its most loyal U.S. customers.
The article doesn't present much in the way of new details we don't already know, but it raised, or rather, reminded me of an ominous, even if remote, possibility. What IF US Airways flipped on both wide- and narrow- bodies?
How remote or how likely is this? Why would US make such a drastic move?
More interestingly, what would be the consequences if this occured?
It seems to me, the momentum from carriers to get onto the que for the 787 would accelerate for the risk of being caught ending up at the far back of the line and thus be at a competitive disadvantage be too great.
At the same time, the pressure on Airbus to get the A350 out on time and as promised is increasing with each passing day. Further delays would make the price Airbus has paid, and will continue to pay in the near term, for A380 debacle seem like a minor toll.
Lots of hype over this subject, but are we all forgetting, including the anonymous Mr. James, that the narrow body order is to replace 733 and 744 aircraft?
They will stick with A320 family. The transcontinental shortcomings of the A321 is entirely another matter.
Apart from delivery issues, surely the small 350XWB will not be too big?
Cheers
