Too bad the AVRO was there but they had to wait like this for about 20 minutes with pax on board.
Some insiders of BIAC told me that it took about 5 min to open the cargo door because the fire brigade didn't knew how to open it. They reported a bit of smoke but NO FIRE. The man of Biac in charge ordered an evacuation but captain wanted to wait for stairs to evacuate the plane. Biac wanted urgent evacuation so they used the slides.
I landed in Brussels (coming from WAW on SN2556) shortly after the incident. It was still chaos at the passport control of Terminal B: half an hour waiting and close scrutiny of all passports.
The BA passengers continued their trip by coach. Did they get any reimbursementfor what appears was a false alarm, thus the responsibility of BA?
