TeddybAIR,

that's just an impression in my opinion, yesterday 5451 unique visitors visited the website, today already 4086. Total new topics and messages in the forums hasn't dropped either. How can I convince you it isn't ?

earthman wrote:Probably. It's never a good idea to try out new things on a working production system. Especially if that means sending people off to a different site which doesn't even have a domain name, and breaking half the features, making posts disappear, etc.
Indeed it's not good to keep the website running at only 70% of the functionality but after the hacking attempts I decided to change the website. I have a full-time job and I am a full-time father of a 6 month old baby. Do I have to close down the entire website for a few weeks, no visitors, no forum, etc... just till I find thé time to fix it ? Then we would lose alot of members. At least now the latest news and the forums are working properly. Please stand-by for further improvements. I hope everyone understands the difficult situation I am in.

Agree! But then again, in these times of World Wide Web, hotspots, wireless,...this shouldn't be a problem. I mean, what is better than uploading your images of your planetrip right after you've actually done it? Or even during! (I'm dreaming)

I have realised that on the www you can't sit still, wait and enjoy what you have created. There are constant threats to bring your website and your server down: hacking attempts, DNS-attacks, spam,etc... also upgrades to newer versions (PHP, apache, SQL) may bring problems. In short; you have to innovate before it's too late.

That's why I decided to drop the old forum (version 2.0.4) and install the new one (version 2.0.21). Maybe some messages are missing and yes maybe some topics don't work anymore but I do now that the forums are running in the safe-mode (I have other ideas about the portal but working on it). Didn't you notice how fast this website is going last few days?

2.0.4  . That's old and full with leaks, no wonder it got hacked.

Anyway, phpbb3 will be out pretty soon and will be a lot safer.

Keep up the good work. 8)

Is it me or is the site tonight really slow ? It takes at least 15 seconds for a page to load ?
