double dipping on Airbus part
http://www.justplanes.com/
Do any of you folks recall around Jan 15 06 when Airbus made the grand announcement that they had beat Boeing for orders in 2005? That statement included orders for:
150 A320 to China carriers
100 A320 to some Asian Regional carrier that currently operates something like 7 regional jets (big expansion dreams)
100 A320 to another carrier operating a few A320's
booking 10 A380 but not debooking the 37 A300 that were simulatneously cancelled by UPS
Now Airbus is acting like they have received "new orders" from China Eastern and Air China.
I think it is ok, not prudent, to show huge orders to little carriers that have little fleets and big dreams, but on the china order thing........
Come on guys, you can claim an order one time in one year.

The asian market has a bigger growth potential than any other part of the world. So why not, what was your reaction the first time you heard Ryanair and Easyjet big orders ?100 A320 to some Asian Regional carrier that currently operates something like 7 regional jets (big expansion dreams)
You have said yourself the numberbooking 10 A380 but not debooking the 37 A300 that were simulatneously cancelled by UPS
the UPS A380 is a new order in 2005. I know it is tricky but it only changes the backlog, the 37 A300 where ordered in another financial year. The comparison has been made considering the number of units ordered in 2005, not the average value of orders, Boeing beat Airbus on this one.orders in 2005
Boeing will do exactly the same concerning the replacement by China eastern of 3 787 by 737. Wait and see.
No it is not, you can't lie to the financial market.I think it is ok
reply for Stepha380
Well,
Todays debooking by Boeing for Primaris of 20 787 and 30 737 shows that while Boeing was more conservative, they put some crap in their booking total for 2005.
The Ryanair and Easyjet carriers started small and modest ordering, just like Southwest and GOL, and built up their fleets as they went, until they became the monsters they are today.
My point about UPS is that the "orders" race is for Net orders, not Gross orders. So the 37 A300 should be a 2005 debooking.
I think JustPlanes.com has a nice Net order 2005 tally, which changes as these Primaris orders are debooked. It has already accounted for the 787 debooking from the China Carrier.
Cheers,
Flea

China Southern Airlines Co., one of China's three biggest carriers, said Friday it has agreed to buy 50 Airbus A320 aircraft. Catalog price of the order is of $ 3.3 bn.
@ fleabyte:
This order, together with the China Eastern Airlines order for 30 a320's allready partially answers your question on the 150 a320's...

Tom
