Indeed. On top of that most of these crucial systems are supplied 2 to sometimes 4 times. If one fails, the others just take over !
And how many billions of flights are flown per each crash? Plus, there are things like common-cause failures of redundant systems...
Anyway, as for Ryanair, some people were recently convicted and given suspended sentences for stealing the Ryanair lifejackets under their seats. It was mentioned that an airplane is supposed to carry extra lifejackets. Lack of assigned seats on Ryanair does not help (they cannot afterwards check who occupied the seat if they find the lifejacket missing). It is said that some Ryanair planes carry the lifejackets overhead, so that they cannot be stolen without getting up and being seen. Of course, flying to London if winter, the water is ice cold and lifevests would not help. But service in cabin and keeping everything in order is both safety and comfort issue...

Don't know why I'm petrified of flying, I suppose it's because I know very little about the technical aspects of it....It's seems like such an unnatural phenomena, I can't rationalise it! It's also because I feel I have no control...
However I do realise I'm being extremely paranoid, will just go ahead and book my flight and see how I go.....
thanx a million for the feedback..... keep it coming
If there was another choice I would take that one! Nothing wrong with either of these airlines from a safety point of view but they aren;t great from a comfort viewpoint. Then again it is only a short flight so doesn't really matter....be prepared to be treated as cattle on either however! Enjoy!
The A320 has a wider cabin, bigger luggage bins, and feels roomier than the 737. They both fly great for a passenger so just book the flight and enjoy, and for sure they are safe as any aircraft can be.
