Re: Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news 2012
This good news for CLR.
But what I hate to see, once again is: "...were warmly welcomed by André Antoine, Walloon Minister...blablabla."
Fed-up to see politicians showing-up for positive news ( Antoine is the champion) and not when really needing them.

Mr Antoine also said there was room in Belgium for two major international airports, and he hoped that from 2014 there will be transatlantic flights from CRL.

And he might be bringing a lenghtening of the CRL runway.galaxy wrote:Santa Claus is coming soon.
CRL too small for a transatlantic carrier ?
At one time, there were low-cost transatlantic flights from Luxemburg, to New York or Chicago via Reikjavik (Loftleidir Icelandic) and to Nassau via Shannon (International Air Bahamas).

Re: Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news 2012
it is pretty sure it will come one day in belgium ...
Now in Charleroi with Ryanair, or in Brussels with Aer Lingus ... that's another question ...

The airline plans to launch more routes to destinations within a one-hour flight time from Brighton, which could include Brussels Charleroi, Amsterdam and Calais.
The first Brighton to Paris flight is scheduled for March 6 with tickets available from December 1 at www.brightoncityairways.com.

Re: Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news 2012
I guess if you want long haul flying from CRL, it would have to be a leisure company (JAF?) because a regular airline would always choose to fly from BRU. Unless FR would one day decide to go ahead with their transatlantic flights. If they'd do it via Aer Lingus, they'd do it from BRU as well.airazurxtror wrote:And he might be bringing a lenghtening of the CRL runway.galaxy wrote:Santa Claus is coming soon.

I'll repeat an earlier post, other topic.
Why does BRU have to pay for the Belgocontrol cost of operating CRL?
Internet doesn't need to be free. Just offer it at a low cost, I like the idea of 1 euro/hour.

Have you ever seen Telenet offering something at a low cost? By keeping a high cost, they scare away some potential customers.superfly wrote:Internet doesn't need to be free. Just offer it at a low cost, I like the idea of 1 euro/hour.
A better idea, used by many airports, is to offer the first half hour free of charge and then charge as much as they want.

2 hours and a half on a Let410? Which I shall remind is an unpressurised aircraft with toilets as an option...

The management of Brussels South Charleroi airport fully trust the safety of Ryanair operations, and say it again after the controversial Dutch TV report :

The last three lines :
David Gering a en outre indiqué que Ryanair malgré une volonté marquée de maîtrise de ses coûts ne transigeait jamais avec les règles de sécurité.
