I've not heard of Blue Moon beer, which country is it from? I have had some very good beers from smaller US breweries, which have been more like ales than Budweiser. Henry Weinhard's Blackberry Wheat is a very nice one.

I'll have to consider a trip to Milwaukee, sounds like a place I would like  When we had our last holiday in LA we spent each night drinking wine in the hotel lobby because it was not safe to go walking outside at night. We never had problems in the day time though, and I adored my holidays in LA.

Last night we had our first Kronenbourg 1664 in ages. It is an Edinburgh-brewed one, and not as strong as the real article (the 1664 you get in France is around 5.9%). The Kronenbourg Premier Cru is very good as well, and that sold in England is imported from France.

VC10 says we should have a special beer on Saturday, so that could be any of the remaining Belgian-bought ones, and we have some beauties to choose from - Bush Blonde (never tried), Rochefort 6 (only had once), Petrus (only had once), Ename Dubbel (very nice but only had once) and Sloeber.

The Moinette Blonde disappeared from the local supermarket as quickly as it arrived, so that is one to add to the shopping list in 27 days.

To celebrate Comet becoming a Moderator, we shall certainly have a special beer (probably one of her beloved Sloebers!!  )

Whilst on the subject of the new Moderators, and sorry to go :offtopic: I'd like to say "Congratulations" also to Bottie, Avro and Killerwhale.

And Comet, you will really have to be on your best behaviour now my girl!!

The fact she's persisting in showing "bad" taste should be a reason not to become a Moderator!! ImageImage

The Moinette Blonde is back, so we got two more bottles and took it off our shopping list of 9th March.

And the Sloeber is waiting in the cupboard

So nice to have a Sloeber on Saturday, the beer which is symbolic of what a bloody useless dump of a place Scarborough is when it comes to beer shopping (and just about everything else).

And also the beer which caused me to have my first ever flight on SNBA

Another disaster last night :( My Leffe glass got knocked onto the floor, it broke and my Guinness went all over the cushion, the magazine rack, the floor and VC10's feet.

Confession time for me I think....

Was I who knocked Comet's beer on the floor, breaking her Leffe glass in the process and spilling most of her beer!! (I was OK, my Chimay glass is tougher and I'd finished most of my beer too!!)

Some beer went on the cat's scratching post, and she still hasn't sobered up""

So now I owe Comet a new Leffe glass

Rochefort 6 tonight, perfect for this cold weather. Not as strong, or as easily available, as the 8 or 10, but a damned good brew :drink:

Last week we had an unusual beer called Floris Chocolat, from Huyghe. You could really taste the chocolate in this one, and it is based on white beer. Also still to try we have Floris Fraise. Strawberry flavoured beers can be very nice.

Back to the Blue Moon beer......it is made in the US and I think it is made by the same people who make Mich. Light. I really like Stella but if I don't have the money to get it then I can drink Budweiser Select.

Here lately I have been drinking anything that comes free off the charter airplanes that run on the weekends. The flight crew usually gives us a bag full to drink!!

Drinking at the airport... so much fun! Once after a couple of beers we went into the hanger and started up Wachovia's B1900-D. Not a Great idea.

So do I start a topic "The Water Topic" :?:

The ultimate beer for the ultimate savouring - ie when the animals have been taken away, the suitcases packed, the video batteries charged up and four and a half hours worth of holiday videos are showing on the TV.

Something beaten only by drinking this stuff in its native home :drink:
