I think that this bashing is partly due to the fact that, regarding the damages/reopening, the communication between BRU and the general public has been limited to "don't worry we got this." or "maybe tomorrow".
I'm not blaming them for that, those are difficult circumstances, and I understand the "fix the situation first then communicate", but I understand that some people are getting frustrated even if I'm not.

Brussels Airport communicated correct. They never said "don't worry" and they never said "maybe tomorrow". Their first communication was "we don't know yet, we haven't been able to assess the damage" and their last communication was "the Belgian CAA says the airport is safe. We're now awaiting the green light from the police". However, then the Belgian disease appeared on the scene: the unions, hijacking the airport because they hate the minister of Home Affairs and his political party.
Yes, we've seen a lot of bashing here. But actually just the same few guys again and again: people from competition airports, and people who have no idea at all about the damage at the inside. Just after it happened, I also thought it was just a lot of broken windows and a lot of cleaning to be done. Untill somebody who has been there told me about the damage.
This morning, around 08:20 LT I noticed that the roundabout underneath the flyover towards the terminal was completely blocked. Not a single car was able to move...
I was informed that this was indeed due to an Industrial action by airport police officers.
Best regards,
Ivan

To me it seemed for sure it they said every day 'maybe tomorrow'. And this because of the way they communicated towards the public and towards companies as well.
Every day I got a call from crewing informing me that my flight is cancelled for ... March/April, one day every time. My operations department gets the delay day by day... Only yesterday they have been informed that Saturday there will be no flights ... BRU should have been clear from the beginning. Why couldn't they say closed for 10 days? They could always have said afterwards 'We have worked so hard that we are able to open 2 days earlier...' But I have to be honest: very easy for me to say, I have no idea what they have to deal with....

They are now deliberately blocking the repair work at the airport!!! Shame on them!!! These are not police; they are hooligans!
Thanks to our unions, the terrorists have won!
Security checks at the terminals' entrance isn't done in the US either! (And God knows how paranoid they can be!)

Soldiers are not mandated nor trained to perform passportcontrol.

Again, soldiers can't do passport control. I am not talking about patroling the airport.

Please refrain commenting if you don't know what it's about... Police hating the N-VA? Come on... Even the average Walloon cop likes them for their position on crime and the way Antwerp police thrived compared to e.g. Brussels police. If you think this can be reduced to just the average union member being left and tvus against the right N-VA, you're way off...
I don't agree with all of the demands, but if some people fell victim to the 'old Belgian dissease' it's people like Jambon who made promisses but didn't follow up on them. Ever since people were queuing for hours at BRU, nothing has changed.

I did not say "the police hates the NVA". I've said "the unions hate the NVA". Quite a difference.

Hey I saw your comment, "I never felt unsafe at Brussels Airport" right?
Did they really block you for that?

No, I posted other comments saying that their blocking of the reopening of Brussels Airport was damaging the economy and bleeding Brussels Airlines to death, and also that entrance checks do not solve the security problems, but shifting them elsewhere.
Now, they claim to have the support from 20,000 airport workers and 20 million passengers. But I, for one, was never consulted.

For every airport that has a pre safety check, I can give them 10 airports that don't have it.
The only thing that such pre check will do, is limit damage to buildings.
