Since this morning at 06:00, 140 passengers are waiting to board their flight to Malaga at Toulouse Blagnac, as reported by France 3. Twelve hours later, no news from the airline, except that the flight had been cancelled for technical reasons. The airport personnel has provided drinks....
For the whole day, passengers were given one triangle sandwich and a bottle of water...
Nobody from Jetairfly was available
In the evening, they were transported to a hotel. Not sure whether they will be able to leave this Sunday.
Flight is JAF 6133 and aircraft involved OO-JAR, a Boeing 737-700.
The JAF6133 story is turning into a nightmare for Jetairfly (and for its passengers). All in all, some 1000 passengers have been affected by delays in cascade.
The Toulouse-Malaga flight JAF6133 of course, but also the return flight JAF6134: in both cases passengers have been taken to hotels for the night after waiting up to 16 hours at the respective airports.
After the Toulouse-Malaga rotation on Saturday, the aircraft should have made a rotation from Toulouse to Lanzarote. Same scenario: passengers to hotels at both ends!
And this morning, the same aircraft should have made a rotation from Toulouse to Ibiza. The passengers still don't know when they will leave. And other passengers are waiting for that same aircraft in Marseille...
It seems that another aircraft have been activated to take passengers to Lanzarote this morning. Oh yes, flight JAF6133 should take off this afternoon at 17:40, some 36 hours late !
Jetairfly has eventually reacted and promised that all passengers would be indemnified after filling the right forms. But the reputation of the company has probably been tarnished for a long time!

The less an airline and/or touroperator pays at the moment of the event, the more they have to pay afterwards. Refusal to take care of the passengers result in more indemnity allowed by the relevant travel trade commission or even the court. Misunderstanding between airline/touroperator and their handling agent is waived as excuse.

Unfortunately, no assistance was possible from their Dutch business partner TUI NL (Arke). They had to hire in extra aircraft themselves last week because they had two AOG for several days: one 737-800 and their 767-300ER.

Indeed. The Plus Ultra A340 made the flight TLS-MRS-AGP (the initial flight plan of the JAF 737 on Saturday was TLS-AGP-MRS-AGP-TLS). The passengers from Toulouse arrived 39 hours late and completely lost their weekend...
Bot directly related to Jetairfly, but, who knows, the consequences could extend far beyond the Ferman sister company TUIfly and affect the whole airline business of TUI.
Fierce protest against plans to sell TUIfly Germany
The German airline TUIfly will possibly join forces with the new touristic branch of heavily troubled airberlin. According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt and news agency DPA, talks are ongoing, but no decision has yet been made.
The German trade union Verdi protests against the planned transfer of the German airline TUIfly to a holding company headed by Etihad Airways. The holiday airline would, like airberlin, largely to be brought under the management of the Gulf company from Abu Dhabi. Parent company TUI AG would thereby retain less than 25% of the shares. The union fears poorer working conditions and jumps on the barricades.
Now that competitor airberlin threatens to fall apart, TUIfly reckons on a merger with the touristic branch of airberlin. Therefore TUIfly should first need to be changed into a new business format, in which Etihad plays a major role.
By bringing TUIfly into a new holding, the company would be able to closely collaborate with Austria's NIKI, which is now a subsidiary of airberlin. Trade union Verdi is scandalised by the fact that the management of TUI negotiates the sale behind the backs of the staff. "That brings much uncertainty for employees and customers alike," said union representative Christine Behle.
Verdi is worried that, with a possible merger with NIKI, the working conditions of the current TUIfly staff deteriorate severely. "There is no question of this, the staff has made enough sacrifices over the years”.
The past few days, according to the union, countless TUIfly flights operated on behalf of airberlin were delayed, because staff would massively report ill because of the stress and uncertainty about their future with the airline.
Airberlin last week announced a major effort to keep its head above water. 1,200 jobs will be scrapped and 40 aircraft would go to Lufthansa to be used by subsidiaries Eurowings (35) and Austrian Airlines (5).

Still not possible to book a ticket to Miami for summer 2017 (only until March).
Are they always this late to release it in their booking systeem (with TUI from Amsterdam the tickets for that period are already for sale sinds moths ago)?
