The merger of SNBA-TV

Is this merger will be the last one in Belgium or we will be talking about another merger in couple of years time again?
I would love to see a stable airliner in Belgium not a new name and merger and logo etc every couple of years.

I took the Dedicate to Riyadh and it's very popular.Even for the C class it's the same than to fly with an BBJ.

I personally believe the new merged airline will be sold in a couple of years time to a much bigger (non-Belgian) airline or airline group. If you look at a timeframe, let's say 10 years but probably sooner.

And when the name maybe will be Brussels Airlines, can you guess wich one it will be?

I think it's the only way to go for SN, since they are way to small to make it in the long run...

Hi,

I'm following this topic from the start, but I think the name is not the most important. The strategy is far more important. I made a little analysis from what we know via the press, and concluded that it's nothing more than the plan of Müller a few weeks before the tragedy took place. The plan Blue Sky consisted of 48 EU destinations and 18 destinations in the US and Africa. So the only thing we need to know is which destinations were the most profitable in the US and Africa.
If somebody knows please let me know.

@ LAMAL - to set the records straight a merger is not the same as a take-ver.. A merger indicates that two companies put their resources and assets together and form a new company.. A take-over means that one company (and its assets) is fully integrated in the otehr one which is not the case now !

I think many people are mis-taking, its not only Virgin Express that will disappear next year but also SN Brussels Airlines. These names and companies will cease to operate and a "NEWCO" will be launched, mean and lean and ready to take on the world, or at least a part of it !

Thats for me the most important and not a stupid name. If you read the Blue Sky plan very carefully, I believe you're gonna know how this new airline will look like.

Davignon said the word "Belgium" would not be part of the new name, but maybe "Belgian" will, as in

BWA : Belgian World Airlines
or

Royal Belgian

But I still prefer the nostalgic : TEA Trans European Airways

After Sabena went bankrupt, I saw once drawings of A330's in a purple colour scheme of Virgin Continental, unfortunately I can't find them back anywhere on the internet.

Sad that snba could'nt bounce back on the so called "blue sky plan" basis defined by M. Müller, last ceo of sabena.
It was probably a sound minimum basis to save the belgian airline activities in a more decent way ...
I don't know precisely what destinations were selected in the plan but personnally I could risk to suggest:
N-Atlantic: NewYork, Boston, Montreal (possibly Chicago)
Africa: Most of the well known sabena destinations except jnb which was already scrapped at the time.

Since the new name of the merged company has -according to Mr. Burrows- already been decided on, it can't be that difficult to unveil it ourselves, if we are inventive enough, can it?

I'd imagine that since internet booking is so crucial for any modern airline, the 'newco' wouldn't risk to see the natural URL being taken by somebody else, so the URL with the name of the new company has most certainly already been blocked off by SN/VEX. Doing some wild guesses might thus enlight us on what it will be.

Anybody with too much time at hands who wants to try some names to see what they can find?

There was a story in Trends recently in which it appeared the name 'Brussels Express' was registered by a brand consultancing firm (which also created the brand 'SN Brussels Airlines') soon after the merger was announced in case they would be asked to come up with a new name for the newco. However, it seems they haven't and since they own that name, that automatically discards Brussels Express as possibility...

How about 'Brussels Connect'?

This is theoretical correct but in common practise not entirely true. If two (or more) companies form a combined company and the shares in the newly formed company aren't equal, the term "take-over"is used as this is the case in such a situation. The PR departments of the companies usually prefer the term "meger" as this sounds friendlier to the outside world and staff.

Wouldn't this be the name if the take-over by BA and KLM of sabena would have succeeded?

BTW are they going to paint one aircraft with the new name begore the unveiling or are they smart enough not to do this (unless they don't want to keep it a secret)?

www.belgianworldairlines.be is registered, however via a hostingcompany with bottom-prices, so i dont think they would have registered there.

EDIT: looks like this one was registered by an ex-sabenien.
