"Criminal" is maybe a too strong word to qualify him.
For sure he when in to troubles when he was President of Marseilles football team. He went to jail and has paid for it.
At the end, he is a small fish compared to some other crooks around us, on both sides of our country and everywhere in the the world. No need to expand further on this.
Having said that, I would be very, very surprised if Tapie was to decide putting his money in LGG.
More generally, aviation business is not the best way to get substantial return on investments.
His is not that fool.

He went to jail but "criminal" is too big a word? Honest people don't get sent to jail, I think.
He's a crook but there's worse crooks about so he is acceptable?
Makes me understand the saying "Palermo-sur-Meuse" a bit better.

Then again, if he was enough of a fool to invest some nice money in football, why shouldn't he try airline business? Not worse than football for return-on-investment, I should think.

It's not because you go to jail that you commited a crime...
And when you're out of jail, you "paid" for it...

Tapie compared to Berlusconi is still a joke..not to mention real criminal like ponzi s
scheme 'Madoff, all banksters from Wall street (Goldman sachs and co)or the diamond cartel in Antwerp which pays very little amount of taxs to say the least.Antwerp harbour is controlled by Russian and Ukrainian maffias.

"Palermo-sur-Meuse" Here we go again...
I' m sick to death of your insults and your usual gall when you talk about Wallonie.
Should look in your own plate  There is a long list of examples where the white collars "Mafia" in the North have behave illegally.
What about KBL, smeerpijp, L&H, Superclub, Diamons (est 1B usd), milieuboxen, obus de Jersey (10 M EUR),
Beaulieu/Fabelta De Clerck (18 M EUR) and you name it...You want more ?

Gentlemen,

Could you still remain gentlemen, like it fits on this site, and refrain from engaging into feuds that do not bring anything valuable to the discussions?

Thanks in anticipation.

To return to the origin of this discussion, I think that the Walloon Government has decided that it did not want to have any relation with Bernard Tapie. I think that this should set a final point to the discussion.

I should love to agree, Andre. But I take
your insults and your usual gall when you talk about Wallonie
for a personal attack (it was posted as a direct reply to a quote of mine, AND mentioning my nickname), and expect either proof or apologies.

It is clearly an answer to your insulting post about your "Palermo-sur-Meuse" and the Liegeois. Now if you are shocked, well enough... and don't expect any apologies.
André, don't worry, in the future I 'll ignore this "gentleman" and his posts.
When such a thread goes bananas, the very first post going off road should be moderated, it would help, I think. ;)

Well, it seems I didn't explain clearly enough. I was shocked indeed by the ease with which a known criminal is accepted as a potential business partner. I will continue to find that unacceptable, or at the very least questionable. On second thoughts, I can imagine that the expression I used was shocking to some of you, I promise I will not repeat it.But then again, not all citizens of Palermo are criminals, to my knowledge, so nobody needed to feel personally insulted.

That said, upon consulting http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Tapie#La_prison , it does seem that the prison term for the said gentleman was a relatively heavy penalty.

But I still deny "usual gall when talking about Wallonie (sic!)" , at the contrary I think I have been quite positive about Wallonia in the "last election" thread. So I do should like to know whether this slur was really aimed at my person, and if so, on what grounds. The attack on my very own person is there, and I do NOT accept it.

Do not forget that a lot of flemish work for LGG or companies operating at the apt like TNT just to name one.
Same goes for CRL.But I doubt it is the case for FR people at BRU.Eventhough it is still supposed to be Belgian national apt and for sure Brussels airport.Same for SN which have been helped in terms of capital injection by both Brussels and WAL regions.Still waiting for a single euro from the Flemish region...10 years after.

Yes, we had all those arguments before. Allow me to recall that Flemish job service VDAB is crying for Brussels people to learn Dutch, so they can fill vacancies in Flanders, and not only at Zaventem Airport.

But generally, Flemish authorities are not aviation-minded, sadly enough. The poor state of affairs at the regional airports is a clear sign enough. I've said it before and am quite willing to repeat: commercial aviation is one of the fields where Wallonia is far ahead of Flanders.

But what's this to do with the acceptance of a dubious figure as a potential investor?

don't forget that "we" are not calling for this guy. The walloon gov wants to stay away.
So it's a matter of personal investment in the aviation business.
Anybody with money can do that, the emir of qatar, a russian mafia member (like in the footboal business) or a french out of jail, whatever. Everybody has the right to invest anywhere.
