Ultralight Pilots on this forum?

Post by realplaneshaveprops »

Are there any ultralight pilots on this forum.

I'm an ultralight pilot @ Hoevenen http://www.ebhn.be

Witch aircraft do you fly? I've had my initial training on a wheedhopper AX 3, the rest I've flown on Rans S-6 Coyote and Eurofox.

I made an instructionflight once at Amougies on a Rans Coyote, OO-C78 which crashed a few months later unfortunally killing the pilot :( . I hope to become a ulm pilot sooner or later... :D

Any reason why you fly from Hoevenen when you are from Ostend :?:

Because I'm not from Ostend, you can found my now at my parents house between EBST en EBTN. I go to aviation school in Ostend. Thursday (30/06), I know if I'm finished my last year.

So everybody thumbs up!!!

2 years ago, I visited EBHN for my first ful-acro flight (with SV-4). A good friend of mine (and also my instructor), who lives in the neighborhood here, is an instructor @ EBHN. So I just followed him!

Sorry, the link in my posting was corrupt... Now Its correct!
The Aircraft you are showing in your post, Erwin, Is Atec Fajeta. It is fully carbon fibre and is little bit faster than the Zephyr but it is about 15 Kg heavier... (= too heavy for the swedish regulations)

Jonny

Here is the link to the Zephyr again: http://www.pilotmix.com/index.php?pgid= ... maxInfo=27

An Ultralight aircraft is an aircraft with one or two seats with a stall-speed of less then 65 km/h or 35 kts.

The max takeoff weight is less then:
300 kg for a one-seater
330 kg for a one-seater amphibian
450 kg for a two-seater
495 kg for a two-seater amphibian

The aircraft should be aerodynamically controlled by at least 2 axis. (These airplanes are not equipped with ailerons, the aerodynamical control is only by rudder and elevator. Only the older types of Ultralight are from this type. The newer one's are controlled by three axis: elevator, rudder and aileron).

Other type is the DPM

The EASA-dokument BR 1592 ANNEX II says as realplaneshaveprops wrote:

300 kg for a one-seater
330 kg for a one-seater amphibian
450 kg for a two-seater
495 kg for a two-seater amphibian
And the ANNEX II says also that those aircraft with specs listed above is NOT controlled by EASA in any way and that means that each country can have their own national rules for those aircraft. Its only Germany and France (europe) that allows +5% to the MTOW if ballistic chute is installed (eg 472.5 kg instead of 450 kg).

Here in Sweden we are allowed to fly in any airspace below FL95 and can use own airstrips on the backyard or use Arlanda international (ARN) if we want to. The most airfields is free of charge for ultralights/microlights.

The license to fly ULM in Sweden cost about 2-2500 Euro and to fly and modern ULM owned by a club costs about 50e/hour. And with modern I mean planes with cruising speed between 100-140 kt... An example: http://www.pilotmix.com/index.php?pgid= ... axInfo=324

Thats not an amphibian. It is just a plane on floats.
This is an amphibian: http://www.pilotmix.com/index.php?pgid= ... axInfo=134

An amphibian can land on both land and water anytime.

But the highest MTOW is 495 kg for both floats and amph.

Jonny

PS try out the word "amphibian" in the search box at pilotmix to see other amphibians.
