SU 777s news

Post by HorsePower »

As some of you already know, the two SU B777-200ERs (VP-BAS & VP-BAU) are reported to return to lessor (ILFC) soon. They are going to be replaced by more B767-300ERs. At first, it has been rumored they can join OS fleet. Finally, they are going to join VN fleet.

SU = Aeroflot
OS = Austrian Airlines
VN = Vietnam Airlines

Sad for the rusian aviation industry, but we don't see any orders for the Il96, even not from SU.

According to what I've heard, the Il-96 on order are/will be shelved. I don't know about the ones already in fleet. Also the B767-300ERs have been updated, as will be the new ones.

AMS wouln't surprise me since AF-KL do the overhaul maintenance job for SU and VN 777s.

How much orders were placed for the IL96 so far ?
With which Airbus' and Boeings is it compareable ?
4 engines (for long-haul) ?

To my knowledge, the nearest competitor is the A340-300/-300E.

According to what I've heard, the last A340-300 (currently at LBG) is to be delivered to Air Thaiti Nui is also the least. I checked the Airbus website and found 2 more destined to LAN Airlines (but it was in may, so...).

But were are already off topic now...

Thanks again, HorsePower. I did not count more than 17 sold frames
for the IL96, so it seems not really a success for the russian aircraft
manufacturers.

The real and only good reason why Aeroflot keeping there Il-96 and order more is because of a deal they airline made with President Putin (officially Russian Government!)!

The deal was that Aeroflot would order more Il96 and buy regional jets from Russian aircraft manufacturers and in return they would NOT pay the very/extremely HIGH import tax on CIVIL aircrafts!

So many new A320 and some more B767 free from import tax! (As well as there DC10-40F)!

This has been reported from many sources! After this deal other Russian carriers made such deals as well! Some of them made orders for the Tu-214 and Tu-334!

That’s all!

Russian aircraft industry is in general in big trouble. It cannot compete with the subsidies and market defence of both USA and Europe, doesnt matter, of which plane we are talking about: Il96, Tu204/214, An148, An 140. Free market is declared only, when the above mentioned parties are interested.
What I know, SU will have a total of 13-14 Il96's, KrasAir has 2,a and will add 2. DME airlines have 1, and Cubana placed an order for 2. Pulkovo is also interested. I think in the very near future the IL86's will be changed to 96's, because of the regulations even in Egypt and Turkey, where theese planes are used mostly beside intra-russian routes.

The Russian government did plan this order for a long time!

You see, when Aeroflot made a order for some 12 Boeing 737-400 in the middle of the 90ties they could pay Boeing but not the Russian tax! However they also got in trouble with JAA of Europe with there Old Russian made aircrafts that where old and noisy!

After years of endless talk and some hard economic time for Aeroflot and the state of Russia they came up with a very good solution!

The Russian President Putin was eager to get closer to EU and France! And Aeroflot was keen to get the B737-400 out of there fleet since they didn’t like them so much!

During a huge Russian diplomatic visit to France (and Toulouse) the French President told the press that Airbus+GECAS was in final negotiations with Russia/Aeroflot for an order of 40 Airbus A320-family aircraft!

GECAS took the 12 Boeing 737-400 in this deal! (They are now with GARUDA!)

So, some of the A320 are leased from GECAS, not all!

Did this HELP YOU ?????????

Indeed the A320 family is just perfect for Aeroflot on there European flights!

Now when the A310 is leaving the fleet the A321-200 can take care of those A310 flights!

The B737 and many Tu-154 flights are taken over by the A320!

The Tu-134 is taken over by the A319!

And, is the A321 is too small the Il96 can for sure do the job!

The A320 is doing a great job as usual!
