About the KL A330s, we can expect something around 220 seats, with max 250 seats. If someone have the exats number of KLM for each class, it would be great!

Thanks in advance.

KLM, A332 introduction:

* Washington - from 30 Oct. daily Airbus A330-200
* Newark - from 30 Oct. daily Airbus A330-200
* Accra - Airbus A330-200 from 4 Dec. 2005 until 18 Feb. 2006, thereafter again with MD11
All 767 routes..

KLM has orded 12+8 B772, together with the a330 they will replace the classics 747 and 767 fleet.

KLM MD-11 will be flying for klm till 2012 ( like they told on the pressconference )
Really?? 8O

Anyway, I've found two newsarticles about leasing Airbuses and Boeings

https://www.aviation24.be/article8378.html

Btw, any idea what kind of seats the new airbus could get. The same like the B777, I've heard those bussines class seats aren't so good at all. The most complaints are going about the configuration in WBC, 2-3-2. I've read somewhere the configuration of the Airbus will be 2-2-2.

Hello All,

A330: the original order: 6 orders (18 options). Recently they ordered 2 additional 330's with ILFC and today the news release : KLM Orders 4 additional new A330's, making it in total 14 aircraft with 14 options.

The MD11 will be phased out in 2012 and probably being shifted to Martinair (cargo)and KLM Cargo. KLM is quite happy with it and i don't see KLM will dump their planes on the market, especially when those MD's are very populair and economical freighter planes. In that order KLM is probably looking at B787/B772/B773 for the MD11 replacement.

Their current T7 fleet: 10 T7's - on order 4 B772ER (inc 2 ILFC)

As of other topics mentioned KLM and Air France are looking for ordering 80 of the F70/F100 for their KLM Cityhopper fleet replacements and Additions.

Um, I don't know how maths are taught in The Netherlands, but here in Belgium 6 + 2 + 4 = 12, not 14 :wink:

Anyway, great to see KLM ordering more A330s. It shows they're confident about their own future, and that the doom scenario brought up by some after the takeover by AF (that AF would suck KLM dry and ship all long-haul to Paris) is very far away...

According to Luchtvaartnieuws.nl, they will make that choice after the B787 & A350 have flown (2011?), and the choice wil be between B787, A350 & A330... T7 is to big to replace the MD11.

If KLM is pleased with their A330's Airbus could offer them a very good
A350 deal. Air France is also a huge Airbus operator and there might be
a really good chance in a few years for Airbus then.

KLM decided to add 12 more A330 to their fleet and this because the airline is growing very fast.

Good to hear, Atlantis. I have never flown KLM, but I think they are
doing a quite good job otherwise there would be no room to expand.
Hope they will be a long-termed Airbus operator now ! :D

It could be, if they are satisfy of the A330. KLM could be in the future a giant client of Airbus. The B767 is going to phase out and replaced by A330. Then they have the MD11 and some old B747. Off course this within some years, 2012, but they have to replaced by long haul, Boeing or Airbus. So we can expect in some years an order for an unknown number off new aircrafts for KLM.

Keep on dreaming! The ceo`s off Air France and KLM told the press last month that KLM will be an Boeing operator, and KLM will not buy the a380 because the plane is to big for KLM routes.

On theirs 22 + 3 B747-400s, KLM has 17 combis. As you know, news aircrafts can't be delivered as combis (cargo + pax on the same deck). Moreover, current combis aren't allowed on US soil (can someone confirm this?).

So, my question is:
On 17 combis, how many of them are still combis and how many are full pax?

Seb.

Not entirely correct. Existing types can still be delivered as combis. The FAA will just not cerify any NEW types as combis.

Incorrect. Example: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/853247/L/
On 17 combis, how many of them are still combis and how many are full pax?
AFAIK, all combis are flying as combis.

Ok, I don't know where I heard that recently...

Thanks teach, I wasn't sure. on a side note, AF currently operates 6 B747-400 combis, all of them in a full pax configuration. 3 of them will be converted in full freighters (first delivery in JUN 2007).

KLM's 17 B747-400 combis have 278 seats only. It let 5 B747-400s (426 seats) who could eventually be replaced by either B777-300ER or B747-Adv. The A380-800 looks definitely too big for KLM needs.
