Air Belgium presents new corporate ID (FS)

Post by sab319 »

Antwerp, 8 June 2005

The air Belgium group is very happy to present to you the new livery and sales structure. Basically this means we now have 2 types of flights available, leisure (mediterranean and carribean) and business (rest of the world). You can spot the difference on the planes because the leisure planes will be sporting a mostly yellow livery while the business flights will sport a red livery but on board the changes are even bigger.

On short haul the leisure flights will have an all economy layout with 28" seatpitch, cloth seats and drop down screens as IFE while on business flights you have both business Class and Economy where economy is more comfortable too thanks to the 32" seatpitch, leather seats and PTV's as IFE. On both services you are served a cold meal on flights under 2 hours and a hot meal on flights longer than 2 hours but while on business flights alcoholic beverages are free, these will be pay on board for leisure services. Thanks to these differences leisure configured aircraft will be able to transport more people (example Leisure A320 Y180 and A321 Y220 while business A320 C12 Y138 and A321 C28 Y145)

On Long haul the business aircraft have a 3 Class config (F4 C42 Y205) and the leisure flights a 2 Class config (C30 Y263). Where both economy class Cabins have the same seats, AVOD PTV's as IFE and service but only a seatpith difference Business flights have 34" while Leisure flights have 32".

Whit these changes we trie to offer a better suited product for both markets and thus having the best price/quality rating.

Our new livery enlightens this in vivid and contemporary way, it was developed with the Help of Réne Bergmann and signifies a complete new era for air Belgium.

Sorry to say this, but that livery is IMHO not very nice...

The previous AirBelgium c/s was one of the best ever seen on the WWW...
You traded in Shining silver for Eurowhite...

What a shame :(

I find it a big improvement. The 2 different color shemes is a good choice.

Buzz, Danny changed the color sheme because he got MANY complaints about the blue one. Allmost nobody said something positive about that sheme and he was dissapointed.

Well I found the quality of my repaints in the greyblue/silver colours horrible. I recently upgraded my paint programme and as i had to repaint the entire fleet anyway i thought i might aswell introduce a new sheme, which well reflect a new ABb in several ways, which ones will become clearer in the future...

I have to say that the white red livery looks faaaaaaaar more professional and realistic then your previous colors. They now have a nice business look and I even would suggest to paint all your liveries in these colors.
Removing the belgian flag colors from the engines and tail are a very good choice. I like the look of the tail now !

DAT202D, all planes will be painted in these colors. The next planes who are waiting for a new lick of paint are the Airbus A32X's.

Air Belgium will add 2 further A300's to it's fleet and will offer charter services with them for other va's and special events. These planes have 298 seats in an all economy lay-out with 30" seatpitch.

I must admit they look more professional, but I still really loved the previous one :D
The new tail with the old fuselage, now that would be even nicer
Keep up the (very) good work !

I find it an improvement as well especially the leisure livery.

The business livery doesn´t look to business like to me though ... because you colored the B of belgium (which is fine for your leisure livery but maybe doesn´t seem stylish enough for "business"). And from the photo´s it looks like it would be better if the "blue" part of the belly were also red in the business livery.

Either way the leisure livery looks good to me.

PS: isn´t 28" very tight for long haul flights, i understand its the leisure class but still. I wouldn´t want to be cramped like this for 9hours.

Well maybe I'm blind but I don't see a blue part :?
Anayway I thought the same basic design would be best to keep a bit uniformity...

Long-haul leisure flights still have 32" seatpitch ;)

Okay now that its day and that I am more awake it is indeed black instead of blue.

I should better not respond while being tired :P since you then overlook the fact that you indeed offer 32" on long haul leisure flights.

I do want to see what the business a/c would look like if the fuselage was all red instead of the red/black and if it would look more professional without coloring the B of belgium on your fuselage.

I like the leisure livery though!
