@vivek0072, yes, the Boeing 747 was delayed by a months. The first Boeing 747's should have been delivered to Pan Am in December 1969, but was deliverded in January 1970 instead. But to be fair, it has to be said that the Boeing 747 JT-9D engines had a lot of problems, which only could be solved during 1970 after a revised redesign of the engine.

Airbus now says it wasn't Airbus said Airbus
Is this starting to sound suspiciously like a cover-up.

I think we should not be to negative about the delay of the A380, delays are nothing out of the ordinary when some sophisticated product comes on the market which incorporates a lot of new technology. The problem appear with military aircraft, cars (Like when the new BMW's and Mercedes' came out) and trucks (my uncle had massive problems with the electronics of the MB Actros when they joined his fleet back in the 90's).
One always should expect technical difficulties or other problems which can delay such a massive project of that size.
But as with the B747, those difficulties will be solved and after a certain period everything will run smooth as it should be. So no big deal.....

As expected all the A380 customers are asking for compensation, Virgin has yet to meet with Airbus.
