MK Airlines B747 Freighter at BRU

Hi everybody,

as from this thursday, September 25th, MK Airlines will fly one Boeing 747 Freighter to BRU every thursday for the next 3 months or so. they will fly Demavia Congo Airlines freight to Kinshasa N'Djili (FIH).

The first arrival is planned somewhere around 6PM. The aircraft will be parked at the BGS apron and will leave BRU somewhere between 9 and 10PM (definitely before 11PM).

Apart from that, BRU will also see the usual DC-8 every friday.

mmm, perhaps the view of a 747 is better, but i definite prefer the sound of the Douglas in my surroundings. Anyone disagree?

<b>Q707:</b> Personally I prefer both the sound and the looks of a 747 'Classic', but a the MK DC-8's definitely make a lot of heavy noise everytime they depart from BRU. You even don't have to see them, it's way too obvious whenever a DC-8 takes off. Not to mention the amount of smoke those engines produce

There is a flight planned to FIH as ALX701 with etd 2130.
Demavia is what i have heared a Belgian broker.

That's a very good news

Again an increase in cargo traffic @ BRU, but onlt temporary

Anyway, I'll be happy to spot that one

As for the noice, mmmh I would say I prefer the B747

, but the noice of a DC-8 is also very nice

The aircraft was planned today for 18h arrival, but it won't land before 20h. I wonder if it'll take off before 23h, but I doubt it. Apparantly, BGS needs 6h to fully load a 747. Now they'll only need to load 34 pallets instead of 40 or so, but it'll still take 5h or so...

Ivan, I'm quite familiar with loading/unloading a 747F, and I can assure you that very often the staff is not the reason for the extended ground times. In those cases it is mostly either the poorly build cargo ,defective pallets or a defective or not-maintained in-plane loading system.
On the other hand, handling freighter a/c needs a certain level of expertise that people who are used to handle pax a/c do not have.
