The US government isn't subsidizing Boeing, it just awards defends contracts to Boeing's military division.
No way that this can be qualified as subsidizing the commercial airplane division of Boeing.......
Countries in Europe are doing the same, when spending money with defence companies that belong to the EADS group.

It's a fact that both the European governments and US government subsidize, via military contracts, Airbus and Boeing. This will put them on the same starting level. Something for sure the US government will not do to Boeing is garanteeing development cost for an airliner. Why can't the EU governments do the same?

Just a word of caution! there has been no confirming news releases in any other publications I can find that will prove the validity of this story.

They may have inside info, or they may have received info that was incorrect.

I am pretty sure that this will have absolutely no impact on the A350
program, independent if Airbus gets financial aid or not.

Anyway,

1) The so-called financial aid to Airbus is a loan that has to be reimbursed.

2) The value of military contracts awarded to Boeing (including research and development money) is way above similar contracts for EADS.

If thsi is true and the other partners do deliver on launch aid then Airbus should just move wing manufacture away from the UK - see how quick old Tony squirms if that happens - loses a pile more votes thanks to fear of what George and his loony pals will do / say.

Is the A350 actually going to happen really? I think it's too early to worry about the subsidies for that aircraft, Airbus need to think about making the A380 a success first.

I seem to have missed out the part in which the money for the military contracts has been tranferred for developing commericial aircraft (for example the B787).

Well it looks like maybe the story was true, Airbus is threatening the U.K. with removal of construction contracts for wings, if they don't play along.
Sounds like extortion or blackmail doesn't it?

Welcome to the daily bits airbus slanging update.

Do you not realise boeing threaten the same thing when they dont get the tax breaks....honestly the unwillingness to see both sides when posting is not help you get sane responses to posts designed to get the airbus lovers hopping.

Just wonder if you'll post any anti-boeing propoganda any time soon. I thought not.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and swims in water,

no matter how you try to justify it, its still a DUCK

I'm not slagging anybody, just repeating whats reported in your own newspapers, and so far I've never seen nor heard anybody threatened by Boeing over withdrawal of contracts because the United States Government failed to loan money to Boeing.

Who said anything about US government loans?

I said tax breaks and tehy are usually funded by individual state. Conveniently ignore the fact that the boeing company gets massive tax breaks from various US states in order to continue manufacture in that state. This also applies to many other companies and industries in the US. So this form of subsidy aint a subsidy then? Extortion? Blackmail anyone? See the case of GM for a fine example of what happens in these cases.....they milk the subsidy / tax break for a while and then shut up shop anyway 'cos its cheaper to build in Korea. Or China. Or where ever is next on the cheap list.
