Not replacement but they want to expand thein fleet.

Maybe more for A330 due to their current fleet.

Maybe also for A320

Thanks for the link, bits44!
Travel company Transat A.T. Inc. will have a new business plan by this fall that will include what to do with its excess cash
Buying airplanes or buying an other company?
Even if an Ontario travel company were for sale, Eustache said it would add other aircraft types to its fleet at Air Transat, making it less efficient. Air Transat has 14 aircraft composed of two similar models, Airbus A330s and A310s.
It seems they are not interrested by buying an other company. It appears they are looking (unsurprisely) for an efficient fleet comonalty.

More news from France:
-t/o Look Voyage S.A. is reported (rumor) to sell their stakes (44.3%) of Star Airlines (SE - french airlines)
Look voyage's main shareholder is Transat Tours Canada Inc.

I hope they will go for either A330 (for short-termed fleet expansion)
or for the A359 (for mid-termed expansion). Time for Airbus to get some
orders this year. Can't await Le Bourget ! :D

Isn't the B772 a bit big as a replacement for the A310/A330's?
And when it comes about ordering the A350-900, the Boeing 787-900 would be a more logical competitor to me.

The most logical order would be for Airbus, for the fleet commonality, but it will be to hard to make an accurate prediction about what aircraft they will order, we have seen some amazing orders in the last few months, some of them believed being in the Airbus pocket (but ending up in Boeings pocket).

Btw, I do not know how relations between Air Transat and Air Canada are (or will be in the future), but could we see Air Transat joining the order for Boeing aircraft that already has been made by Air Canada??
Any opinions about this theory?

Look needs money. They have lost money since 3 or 4 years.

Look it's also anyway.com
They were also main shareholder of Star but star is now main owned by Angel Gate (Air Horison, Safar tour, France soir,...)

Air transat expect to have 777 and A350 from 2008 for the 777

Traduction from a spanish cow (Altavista babelfish)

"Our vocation is primarily leisure. Transat has must initially meet the needs for the TO ", explains Philippe Buisson, sales manager France, Belgium and Europe of the South. Positioned on the long mail, Air Deckchair has a fleet of 14 apparatuses (A310 and A330) serving 95 destinations. "the fleet is in the course of renewal with Boeing 777E and A350 Airbus which one hopes for in the 2008." interior equipment were also re-examined. "Of company charter at the base, vis-a-vis at a market which evolves/moves, we must improve our products" Result, a Club class of 21 seats improved last year and a new seat with the airport of Montreal Trudeau.

Hopefully this order will go to Airbus...this is at least my hope, even if the
order will not be a big one.

air Transat parent company sold their 44,27% of Star Airlines to the british registered holding named Angel Gate Aviation (AGA) for aproximately €4,5 millions.

For the record, Raymond Lakah can be shelved between Jean-Charles Corbet and Erik de Vlieger.

I have tried to learn a bit more about AGA by typing on Google "Angel Gate Aviation + shareholders" and found only one link :? .

So, Air Transat has some money to spend now, right?

Airbus is clearly the frontrunner.

The 772ER is a fuel guttler compared to the 332/333 for a typical transatlantic mission. Even worst compared to the A350.

TS has plans to expand to Asia which explains their sudden need for more aircraft.

If you want to read more about the Transat/ Angel Gate Aviation agreement:

Air Transat has a good relation with Westjet. I have not heard of any with Air Canada. They have just signed a 30 month agreement with Westjet. That builds on the success of a two-year agreement implemented in 2003. I don't see them buying any narrow bodies in the near future.

@ArthurQ, thanks for clarifying that!
The 772ER is a fuel guttler compared to the 332/333 for a typical transatlantic mission. Even worst compared to the A350.
How do you compare that? By just looking at the total of fuel consumed by the aircraft on a certain route? Or do you compare that by seat mile? Because the B772ER can hold more seats, so when looking at fuel consumed by seat for a certain distance, the difference to other types (A330/A350) would be significantly lower.
But how about cargo capacity, I think the B772ER has clearly an advantage over the other aircraft. It then would depend on the fact if Air Transat needs that cargo capacity.

The 333 has a TOC advantage of 17% for a 3000nm mission. The 772ER does carry a few more pax but it would be a pure waste in capacity. The 332/333 are purposely limited to 362 seats in TS config.

Cargo? TS is primarily a charter operator and cargo loads are extremely limited and nowhere near the max capacity (volume/weight) of the 330s.

You seriously thought it'd be a great idea to revive a thread from TEN YEARS AGO for THAT?
