june is coming up very soon..and we are still waiting for a new carrier at Bru this year wich was supposed to be 'the one' with dozens of new long haul flights to almost everywhere in the world !! lol
Etihad,Jet airways etc...it is more hellas jet and a few others leaving bru instead of new players....bru is every day more and more a regional aiport....hope seond part of the year will be more interesting...
but a lost of a carrier like ''hellas jet'' is much more important in terms of pax volume ,that a few rotaions on a few long hauls destinations with very limited numbers of pax boarding at Bru...

Didn't you read all the topics around this
I flew several times with hellas Jet - very good service. I will miss them. Nevertheless, when Hellas Jet does not operate BRU-ATH anymore, BRU will not lose this pax since there is still VEX and OA that will pick-up the passenegers that flew T4 before. If it was a route that was ONLY served by T4, then it would be a loss ...ERICAIRLINES wrote:but a lost of a carrier like ''hellas jet'' is much more important in terms of pax volume ,that a few rotaions on a few long hauls destinations with very limited numbers of pax boarding at Bru...

Of course it would be great to see BRU conected to Tokio, but the yields are too bad.
Look at the flights Sabena operated. The planes were always full of tourists and not making a lot if any money.....
I'm afraid the few high yield pax are travelling out of FRA, CDG or LHR
BTW welcome to Luchtzak, I hope we will be reading more of you in the future

At the building of Sky Shops are for the moment big digging works, the controlpost is moved already 30 meters. These are the first expand works.
For the moment, around the airport it's one digging place.
- works at Brucargo South
- works at Sky Shops
- works for the new underground parking
- in June, break down of the Satellite and Pier South.
Great, great, great. I'm curious to see this airport in a couple of years when everything is done.

I don't know if you now well our airport. It's for years, not thinking at the construction of the A-pier, that there were construction works. All those years the airport was the same. Now we can see a never seen business, probably due to new shareholders, Macquarie Airports. So, you can see, it was very needed to have a shareholder with good ideas.

Hello
Can understand you're enthusiast Atlantis.
But to my opinion breaking down the C-satellite and the South D-finger dock isn't and indication on higher traffic. Find it a bit stupid. Ofcourse I'm also curious about how BRU would look within several years , but breaking down those BRU-masterpieces...hope they build something really nice , like the A-pier there.
And by the way. There are MANY MANY long-haul gates free at most times in the day at the B-pier for 2 new airlines like Jet airways and Ethihad airways....so they didn't had to break down that satellite for new slots. But the way , long-haulers can park there , don't get it..all of C-satellite's gates are designed for long-haul traffic , why don't they make a long-haul planes satellite there?? Stupid , but yeah...who am I??
Hope we'll see some soon..because much is promised since one or two years.....and nothing we get.....even BEAP is a 'flop'.....we want see them now...
Best regards: Yannick

You forget the works for the rail link with Leuven-Liège, part of the diabolo.Atlantis wrote:For the moment, around the airport it's one digging place.

Glad to hear that. The satellite is an original and nice building that was still in a rather good condition and could be refurbished at low cost.Brubiac wrote:Just for info: it's only finger South that will be gone.

Am I'm writing that we can expect more traffic? I don't think so. It was only a resume of the recent works at the airport. I also know that we can expect more long-haul traffic. Just Jet Airways and Etihad.Bruspotter wrote:

The constructions now are just preparations for future interested companies, that's why they expand the airport.
One question: read first very attentional the post before giving reaction on with something what never was writing.

Also quite a few taxiways are being closed due to works I think.sn26567 wrote:You forget the works for the rail link with Leuven-Liège, part of the diabolo.Atlantis wrote:For the moment, around the airport it's one digging place.

SNBA to Japan ?
Indeed already many carriers go to NRT and competition would be too though. I guess KIX or NGO or even FUK might be good alternatives. Anyway SNBA will need a code share partnership with JL or NH. BRU with ist European hub and gateway to Africa might be a good opportunity for JL and NH.

As far as interest out of Asia is concerned, i'm afraid 2 things are really NOT favoring Brussels Airport
1) indeed low yield, and our fares here are the lowest in Europe (i'm talking to Asia, other regions i don't know). So this would not be a high revenue country from the Asian point of view
2) Far more important is connections worldwide... we really stink in that matter! I mean, some flights to Africa, 4 or 5 Northamerican flights, and that's it. You're not persuading any Japanese airline to land in BRU if 200 km further away and within easy reach (thanks Thalys) you can go and travel the globe via AMS or CDG.
One thing is sure, if one Asian airline would dare to open a Chinese route or a BKK -route, the flight would be packed and other airlines would follow, but who will be the first...?

I highly doubt that in the sort time Macquerie has run BRU, they have planned the projects, obtained the permits etc.Atlantis wrote: Now we can see a never seen business, probably due to new shareholders, Macquarie Airports. So, you can see, it was very needed to have a shareholder with good ideas.
Project like these, especially in a country like ours, take a LONG time to prepare. The were being prepared long before Macquerie came to BRU, I would suppose...
