Airport Security Good or Bad?

Post by ryanvsnow »

If I was incharge of Airport Security the first move I would make would be to get rid of Airport Security (TSA who does the screening at the front door). Yes this would alow PAX to carry-on anything they wish. I don't believe that a terrorist would try to high-jack an A/C if they thought the PAX next to them had a gun.
Now I would still have Checked bag searches to eliminate bombs or anything else that would hinder air security.
I believe that the flight crew should be the first and last people on and off their A/C. The flight door would remain locked from the time before boarding till all Pax were off the A/C and could not be opened other wise.
The F/A should have no contact with the Flight-Crew exept with a button to push for an Emergency.
This, I believe, would help to keep our skies safer.

They did not need bombs; people still had the mindset that if they just stay calm, everything will turn out ok.

If terrorists tried the same thing now, they would not succeed.

That being said, I think 'airport security' is nothing more than a bad joke.

I think it's a good thing to have in case something goes wrong. The real police are needed elsewhere

yes. I was aprehended as a runaway by airport security. "I'm a spotter" doesn't do it for them. Sometimes they can piss me off

Yea at CLT their are signs posted every 10 feet on any roads with visibility of the airport stating that its illegal to be parked there and violators are subject to prosecution.

POintless security - such as we see in the US nowadays - is a pain. Otherwise its a necessary evil - I would rather it be there than not. BTW - by pointless security I mean shoes off and laptops out?? Why does this only happen in the US?

Better yet: Instead of doing drugs and being in street gang or raiding and looting, they would rather prosecute you for doing something productive and educational. It's a sorry world we live in.

I share in your sympathy. I can remember as a child when my uncle, a mainline Piedmont Airlines Captain on a B732, would come into CLT we would meet him at the airport. He would let us sit in the cockpit. It was a blast.

That sounds great! I'll never forget my first time in a cockpit. a QN L-1011, and then a QN 752!! Those were the days....
