Would you trust Onur Air? (poll)
Turkish carrier Onur Air has already been banned from the Dutch, German, Swiss and French airspaces.
Up to now the airline has still been allowed to fly to/from Belgium.
However would you trust Onur Air?

we will never know that....
Let the (incomplete) figures talk. Birgen. Do not mix with: Istanbul Airlines
Kibris Airlines, KTHY - Kibris Turk Hava Yollari and Onur Air Tel:+90 (212) 663 23 00 (?) are not listed, so why should the pilots of Onur not have enough confidence in their aircraft., Brubiac?
But of course, that we will never know that....

We could also assert that the pilots of Flash Airlines had some confidence in their Boeing 737...Brubiac wrote:Apparently the pilots of Onur have enough confidence in there aircrafts. Would they fly if it was not save enough?
Ok, maybe they have from time to time some small technical problems but who hasn't?

As a reminder

I did en will never fly with them, or orther cheap airlines around that region and why? you start to read this:

Balance in favour of the private airlines?

Ya, the count is > 1000, 1077 I counted the casualties for Turkey alone.
Most of their fatal accidents happened inside Turkey,
a - of course all the flights start or end there.
b - but outside turkey, inspections are more severe, so they send their 'better' equipment and crews on international flights.
btw, they are not a unique case: here is an other example and an other of airlines run by (ex-) airforce airmen.
But the conclusions (replace the corresponding country name in the above statement) might speak in favour of the private airlines. My count for TG = 373, for PK =634. Make it >2000 for the 3! And we do not know how many died in or on te way to hospital, because fatalities in statics are at crash site only.
I voted yes on the basis that no matter what you say the Pilots of these aircraft are not gonna roll that plane down the runway knowing they are at extremely high risk due to poor maintenance.
Why would so many pilots want to die or risk it?
I hear it is more the paperwork that is a problem at Onur and the fact they leased those old old tristars.

in my opinion; a good pilot does not take an aircraft in to the sky, when at the same time the aircraft has maintance problems what are to be solved!

Hello
I can understand good that some people don't trust that , and maybe even if it is that the pilots of Flash airlines 737 had confidence in their plane , even than when such things can happen....I still go the same direction as Brubiac goes.
In some way I still would trust the A300 but NOT the MD-83 too much.
The only way to explain that. I would feel myself more confutable in a bigger plane that the feeling of being in a equal unsafe , smaller plane.
Don't know why but I do have that feeling.
So I voted YES because OHY flies the A300 at BRU and not the MD-83 , and also many many 320/321's so....no problem like that for me.
Best regards: Yannick

Do you trust Northwest? Of course you do. Now, take a look at this photo:
http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=470962
And now read this:
http://airdisaster.com/news/0505/11/news.shtml
It happened last week. If this would happen to Onur Air, it would be a reason to ground them. But it happened to Northwest, so it's only a small incident.

The report says: The planes were separated and towed to hangars around 1:30 a.m. No passenger seemed to be hurt. The brave pilots did not leave their cockpit, nor did they run away, but did what they could to avoid worse. That is how the story ends, overthere. Brave men, I trust this kind of men. Btw, this is not a small incident. Things could have turned into catastrophic proportion, if there were not these dedicated men or women ( the report doesn't say.). Bravo people of Northwest.

when the dutch, german, swiss and france official thinks that an airliner is an danger for the country, they have all rights to bann ( afcourse after several inspections ) this airline out of the country!
The Begium officials thinks that Onur is ok, then they have all rights to let this airliner fly to and from youre country.
Only the Belgiums neighbours; The Netherlands, Germany and France thinks different, but they dont have to protect Belgium airports, pax etc.... and its not 1 country what banned Onur; there are 4 ( and 5 if you caount Austria with them )
