Lyulka,
you have gotta see more triple 7's !! It's just amazing! I like the technology behind the A330 but the 777 is just for me 'brute power' !!
Which French taste ,Airbus is a consortium of more countries and thus a European plane and not French.
Andre
Andre, I didn't see that Airbus is a French plane, I said it has a French taste!
That is something totaly different
I flew with a A340-400 but I can not say I liked it. Too sensitive during turbulence, small cabin (compairing to other planes), back of the seat is not feeling comfortable in your shoulders and last but not least the pitch between the seat (Iberia) very small and I know you can not expect a flat bed in economy class but at least you can expect that you can put your back a little comfortable, Not in this A340, just a little backwards like in a economy class bus and that's it. Nope I don't like them, even the MD-11 has more space and pitch inside can you imagine stepping in a 777 !!!
Saw the aircraft a few times at Brussels and Heathrow (last friday!). Allright, the engines are cool, but the fuselage! The -300 series are even more ugly!
Your experience is exactly the opposite of mine! I found the A340 more comforable than a 747 (flew on both within a few days) but I was flying with Virgin Atlantic (both flights). Not flat seats, of course but certainly more elbow room than on a 747.
Each airline fits out it's cabin differently so that seat pitch with Iberia may be less than with Virgin so giving Iberia passengers a less favourable impression. (If I had only flow on a BA Avro I might have been less than happy with their 3-3 seating arrangement , whereas SNBA only cram in 2-3 which gives much more space for each person).
Then we get down to personal prejudice with some of us preferring one type to another, or aircraft having winglets for example. There can never be a difinitive "best" aircraft as too many variables exist.
Another example of one of my prejudices is the Canadair RJ 200 which seems to me to be slightly rolling whilst in level flight. I find this slightly disturbing but other people love the aircraft.
When it gets right down to it though I will fly in anything!!!
I konw you were comparing with your favourite aircraft, but all Boeings seem to have the same fuselage/cabin shape.
One thing which I haven't noticed in the discussion is speed. This is an area that passengers do take notice of. If I remember correctly didn't Singapore give the higher speed of the 777 over the 340 as one of their reasons for trading in their 340's so quickly. On a Singapore - London flight the 777 is over 30 minutes quicker at normal cruising speeds, which is a big seller to the premium class passenger
The 757 and 767 DO have similaritities : they were developed simultaneously and have cockpit commonality, meaning the flightcrew can be cross-qualified to fly the 2 types...
