Man U. in the opposite direction?

Post by SN30952 »

Manchester United Plc: US billionaire Malcolm Glazer doubled his stake in Manchester United Plc to 57% and offered to buy the rest in a transaction valuing the world's biggest sports franchise at $1.47 billion. (Bloomberg)
So $1.47 billion = 43%?
Fans of Manchester United who oppose the bid say they are worried the transaction will take the club in the opposite direction.
Fans have shown their opposition to Glazer's bid.

Malcolm Glazer, son of a Lithuanian immigrant, is a 76-year-old watchmaker's son.
He did what my grandfather* suggested: Glazer built his fortune by expanding his father's business into (real estate,) food service industry among other businesses.

In 1995, he bought the Buccaneers.

:?: What will happen with Man.U.?

It seems like we have another Roman Abrahmovitsj (how do you write this?).
I don't think this is a positive evolution, money is dominating the football scene more and more.

Let us hope Man u will win again some trophees because I think they are a wonderful team.

Very bad news. At least £500 million debt is involved in the bid

Is Man. U. the trojan horse? Will this be the way (american) concerns will grap hold of the broadcasting rights of the game?
Our football is european culture and should be protected as such.
