Air Europe and the 350

Post by Ruscoe »

The 350 which Airbus is offerring is a much different aircraft than Air Europe committed to.

Their committment so early in the program was a surprise to me, and now the aircraft they committed to is significantly different. (and better if you want that sort of capability)

Do we know why air Europe were so quick off the mark.

Hi Ruscoe am a bit lost with your new topic. You mention that Airbus is now offering a different aircraft to Air Europe, to what they originally comitted to. :? :? :?

What changes have Airbus introduced from the launch?

As I understand Air Europa have recently leased some A340-200 from Airbus as they are to be used until the A350 arrive. The A350 will be a perfect replacement for the earlier Airbus models the A340/A330.

Hi BP,
When Air Europa ordred the 350 it was far from defined, they only had a general idea of what sort of aircraft it would be. Although the aircraft is still not finally defined it is clear that Airbus are offerring a much more capable aircraft than the one they offered to Air Europa.
There is serious discussion that the 9 might even be extended out to 345 size, and 9100nm range.

This got asking myself "Why did Air Europa committ so early, before it was defined"?

The craft might very well end up, although more capable, not what Air Europa are after.

Further to my last post, if airbus go any further, the 350 undercarriage will need beefing up, and larger engines will be required.

It is confusing why Air Europa was intrested so soon when they were nowhere near any final design for the aircraft but maybe they have had input into how they want this aircraft to be?

Am sure that Airbus explained to Air Europe the kind of plane that they would be offering at least early specs of it anyway. Its true that the A350 is in the early process of getting its design freeze and specs and as I begin to understand that the A350 will be aiming more towards the B777 than the B787.

To combat the B787, i've heard before that Airbus was working on a A305 project although am not able to get any info on that. Does anyone have any information as to this project was aimed for? :?: :?: :?:
