We heard it too but it seems not everbody inside KLM is too happy about it.
It should be a hard laugh when that should happen, first they cost them millions and now they go back to eachother........it looks like politics, shout on eachother on television and have a drink together after work time on a bar
It appears that the European Comission of Transportation has aproved the recapitalization plan of Alitalia. It has been estimated that it is not considerated as a state aid.
Italian government wants to participate to the recapitalization of AZ fly with €1.2 billion, and have to be considerated as an "advised private investor". Deutsche Bank should be asked to guaranted the transaction. Moreover, Rome persuaded the ECT that the public holding Fintecna, who will take the control of AZ servizi for approx. €220 millions, will be considerated as a "private investor". ECT has been guaranted by Rome that Alitalia fly and Alitalia servizi will keep commercial links only (no capitalistic links), in accordance with the market.
Now, the project needs to be approved by comissions, and by the European Comission of Competition particularly, where some AZ competitors make pressure to invalidate the recapitalization.

What a hypocrisy! Exactly like when the EU approved the state aid granted to Air France "for the last time" at least three times...
I am sure that for a smaller player, e.g. if the Belgian government would have had the guts to ask for a similar air for Sabena, it would have been blandly refused.
