My nickname is a combination of my initials "BB" and the word "King", 'cause I used to be a "King" on the football field, at least I thought I was ..... :)

Moreover BB King was a great artist ... and so am I 8)

My avatar is the logo of the airline with the same name as me (although "Bax" is not identical to "Backx", it sounds the same ...)

I must be the only Luchtzak member with his own airline :D 8O :o , untill Johan Lufthansa or Miranda Iberia become members ...

For me it's like many others. I rally love the Lockheed Tristar :) :) .
It's quite a shame we don't see them enough :!:
I think it's the overall design of this plane that seduced me.

Note: the Concorde and the 747 are out of the contest of course because of being living myths. :)

for the record
my name is Gregor, and I'm a last-year physics student.
I had the chance to participate in a parabolic flight campaing :D , which my hompage is about.

ciao,
TriStar

Perhaps the idea came fromMEA  .
Now serious, Q707 stands voor an huskitted Boeing 707, cause the 707 is my all time favorite, and i am not "noisemaker" in life.
Nowadays even the huskitted (stage II) 707 is not allowed in Europe & the States, and that really is a pitty.
Lucky enough we can see from time to time a military/government 707 @ ebbr, so we will not forget to quick the sound & sight of the mother of modern commercial transport, which the Comet gave birth to.

SkyStef is a nick i use in msn, my work @ the airport has everything to do with the sky and my surname is Stef.

My last flight until now was on OO-VEX from MAD to BRU at the end of March 2001, that's why i've chosen OO-VEX as nickname.

As avatar i picked the Aer Lingus logo, because Ireland is such a nice country and the people are very friendly over there. I've been there already 5 times on holiday and i will never forget how great those holidays were.

The second trip I've made to Florida was with CTB's MD-11 OO-CTB
A wonderful plane to fly in, certainly on climb-out. The sensation of that tail mounted engine pushing in your back during acceleration!... Hmm, I'll never forget that.

My Sabena identity when I was working there.
I forgot to explain my avatar. Also simple:

L'Oiseau du Ciel (the bird in the sky) from Belgian painter René Magritte was a long-lasting symbol of Sabena, my first employer.

I choose my nick after I saw the 1st A318 from Frontier. I really love to see that plane with those animals on the tail, it is small, comfortable and has a beautiful cabin. Then ofcourse my Avatar and signature are all related to Frontier. If one airline deserves my support it is Frontier.

p.s. Frontier stands for all where KLM is not standing for, Frontier was launch customer of the A318 and KLM didn't want the A318! Why I don't like KLM anymore? They are going to put me on the street and they do so with 5000 other collegues only due to the alliance with that awful, horrible, hideous (thks Comet ;) ) Air France, I hate that airline!

I love the Avro and Jumbolino is a nickname for the Avro I choose it
- impressive - it's an airliner you can land and start everywhere (ok you shouldn't fly too long with it without fuel stop)
and it looks like it is smiling http://hot-server.de/juttaedith/bru_1003/KIF_0759.JPG 8O
(same to the ATR http://hot-server.de/juttaedith/hp_deut ... bbie11.jpg - not the best pic I should improve my webpage  )

The steward on my first ever Sabena flight referred to the Avro as a "Jumbolino"
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

In dutch spottersworld the Avro is simple known as "wortel", from Willy Wortels funny cartoonwork, because of the planes funny looking. When on spottersduty with friends i too refer it as a wortel.
Other nicks in Belgian spottersworld include: Air Hong Kong=King Kong, Metro=vliegend potlood and others.
Perhaps an idea to start topics on all nicks in spottersworld when spotting with friends.

We sometimes call a Virgin Express a tomato because of its color off course, and an Avro an "insekt" ( insect or bug, if you like ) because of its shape if you see it closing in at the RWY. Those wings that go down a bit with those wheels coming out of its side like the legs of an insect. Hope I don't affend anyone, but I think there's a resemblance.

What's in a (nick)name?

 OO-SBZ

The spotters know this plane: the very first Sobelair Boeing 737-329

And here are the reasons
 OO-SBZ was the first 737-300 I saw and 2 years later I travelled in it to South France. At that time SBZ still had the nice classical cheatline livery... and you could still spend some time in the cockpit chatting with the pilots.
 I love the Boeing 737-300... and the Avro too... So Avro & Jumbolino we could set up a fan club
 Sobelair is my favourite charter airline.

Btw, does someone know if OO-SBZ is still flying with Sobelair? :)
Did SLR get rid of OO-SBZ after the arrival of OO-VAC?

We used to refer to a shorts 330/360 as a "vliegend frietkot" due to its shape. When we asked the crew how it flies, a captain replied : it's build like a ship and it flies like a ship.

a small traduction : frietkot = place where they sell french fries and so on. The so called Belgian national dish.

Today 11 Oct. OO-SBZ is flying to Malaga, Reus and Monastir
Tomorrow 12 Oct. to Tenerife and Heraklion.
Answers on OO- planes can be found in database "aircraft Registrations".

This evening while searching through the vault of forgotten luchtzak posts I found this one and decided to revive it.
RyanVsnoW
*Ryan is my firstname
*V is the first letter in Vince short for Vincent. Vincent was the name I chose to be called in French class in High School. I kept Vince as an alias that I use when I go out.
*snoW come from a party hat that I have. Its a winter hat that reads "I Love Snow". People who didn't know my name used to refer to me as Snow
So now you know
