That's part of the contract. It was the same with LOT and Euro Atlantic Airways. They request to fly once or more to their hometown. They take "profit" of these routes. That's bussines.
Atlantis, what Skystef probably means is: the tourists have booked for a trip with a nonstop flight (with BelgiumExel), and that is now changed into a direct flight, via AMS (with Martinair).
The contract Thomas Cook-Martinair has nothing to with the contract client-Thomas Cook. I'm not going to discuss further what the Belgian travel law says about this, but I don't think that there is one pax who will be happy with the stopover (unless for those who kick on take offs and landings).

I wouldn't. Especially since these flights are usually to two destinations in the Carribean. It means some tourists will have two stops before arriving at destination. TC should do like TUI: have their own long-haul aircraft.
When I saw the timetable for the long haul of Martinair from Brussels, I saw that we have know no direct flight to Cancun, etc and also in the other direction. Can someone confirm this to me. Because if this is true, it's a long way to your holiday.
I read somewhere - don't know anymore where, maybe airliners.net or luchtvaartnieuws - that Martinair was looking desperately for an additonnal 767 and was almost succesful. One of the reasons for this need was to start operations from Brussels.
