Yo Regi I understand your bad feelings...
But you know such things happen more frequently then people might believe...
Last example was this week when colleague of mine came back from Delhi (LH flight) The meal he got on board made him ill during 2 days after arrival!!
And it is a long time since I flew with AZ.. I remember it could be surprising at times ( for ex. a/c turning back home for technical pbls, 1 semi-night spent in a noisy hotel near the airport etc..) but I keep the memory of quite a pleasant inflight service. Maybe I was young and I appreciated some sort of "unexpected" happening ........as long as my health was not impacted !

I just want to ask a question. Aren't Air France and other Skyteam member want to kick Alitalia out from Skyteam? Cuz it is a money-losing carrier and Skyteam doesn't want Alitalia to stay with them.

Uhm... Allmost all carriers are losing money... Delta, Continental, NorthWest, ..., all part of Skyteam, are losing money, some allmost bankrupt. Are they being kicked out?
PHASE ONE LAUNCHED
Phase 1: split AZ in 2 parts.
Phase 2: put all the debt into AZ servizi.
Phase 3: sell it to Fintecna (gov. owned).
Phase 4: capital increase with private founds.
Phase 5: AF-KLM increase its stake up to 20% buying some shares from the government, thanks to Mr Berlusconi.
I guess it is possible that Emirates would invest in them whilst their stock is at its lowest. Remember EK did something similar with a struggling Air Lanka, bought 49% renamed them SriLankan Airlines and updated the fleet to the current A320. 330 and 340. I suspect they are making money now too so don;t be surprised if they have a pop at Europe with Alitalia. Not much to lose - shareholding will be cheap and if it goes wrong then EK's profit goes down for a year or two....
Then again LH, BA, AF won't like it so don;t be surprised if the EU starts playing silly buggers if EK tried to do this.....
How will the italians react if Emirates would replace the useless Alitalia personell - which doesn't remember how to work after all those strikes- with cheap and loyal people from the new european member states?
You've hit the nail on the head....everyone has to be on their guard now with cheaper and often highly qualified staff coming from the new EU countries. In some ways this is good as it will force staff at companies like Alitlaia to have a reality check - in others its bad as it is going to effect every industry in some way....salaries are not going to rise too quickly anymore in the more established economies or the new ones and you can bet that prices in teh new ones go up very quickly.....
Emirates would just be taking advantage of the same market conditions everyone is fcing. Besides - they would still need to employ Italian speakers as ALitalia wouldn;t disappear....it is just a shareholding.
I think investment bye Emirates could only be good for Alitalia, Only questions would be raised is would they put up with these unions and would the government just butt out and let the Airlines in Italy run themselves.

Whilst I would agree that all the striking hasnt helped AZ, I Wouldnt call the personell useless. This is just the way things happen in Italy alot of the time. Some would say for the worse and some would say for the better. All comes down to whether you are a person whos views air on the side of making money or whether you are a person that feels it is your right to be heard. As for cheap foreign workers I think like any other country Italy would be wise and use these workers to their benefit.
If the person can do the same job to the same capability and is willing to work then why not?
Remember EK did something similar with a struggling Air Lanka, bought 49% renamed them SriLankan Airlines and updated the fleet to the current A320. 330 and 340.
I Think updating the fleet is not in question for AZ, Most of the fleet is now modern. The only replacements required are for the Md 80's and I gather they will be more and more airbus integrated over time. This company could be so great of only it was operated to its full capabilities.
In fact I spoke out as a customer. My first reply said it all. Alitalia was the first and hopefully last supplier to me of food poisoning.
It was the only supplier which didn't find me in their system despite I had paid up for a real ticket - in the pre e-ticket days.
It was the only supplier of a flight that delivered luggage damaged beyond repair and didn't take any responsability for it.
All of that in just 2 flights.
Dump them.
Don't forget that AZ will have to pay 100.000€ if they leave the SkyTeam.
Anyway, what will be the next shareholder, AZ is going to fold its wings. In fact, it's already started but even more jobs will be cut and more planes will be downed.
I offer my sympathy for those who are going to loose their job.

Sorry but don't forget KL is totally not interested in Alitalia anymore.
They cost KL 220 miljon euro some years ago and KL wants to stay as far away possible from AZ.
