I just looked at the pictures..........................................
Can I be honest?
What an ugly airplane is this!!!!!!!! :?

In the beginning I said it looked like a ugly whale and people told me that I had to wait until it was ready..................so I did.
But now.....I mean.........what is this??????
Sorry folks, I am not an long haul Airbus fan but at least the A330 and the A340 look sleek and elegant but this "thing" I have no words for it, I am really dissapointed :(

MORE here........and TODAY's PIX

Ce matin, l'équipage de l'A380 a effectué un RTO sans lever la roulette de nez (plus une accélération arrêt à très haute vitesse). Ce terme signifie en langage technique Rejected Take Off soit en français Décollage avorté (ou annulé).

I didn't know that the A380 monster was fitted with a "roulette de nez" :? . Perhaps it explain why on channel 2 (France 2), they stated the A380 was fitted with 21 wheels!!!

Journalists at work...

Of course you can Erwin. We live in a free world and you may think what you wat ;)

Well as you all might now I also found the plane kind of ugly in the beginning, but since it is finished and wearing paint I find it quite nice and especially spectacular. But I must admit that from some perspectives the nose and the front part doesn't look "great" at all.
But looks doesn't really matter. As long as the A380 fulfills its tasks in a proper manner then everything is fine ;)

Thanks Avro, I know it is one huge piece of technic and I do respect that but the design is not in line with all the other Airbus models in my opinion ofcourse.
Can't wait to see it flying.

You cannot be honest you must be honest Erwin !
Anyway it's a great moment to attend to the maiden flight of the new Giant Jet !
I remember living the same excitement (even bigger because I was in my teens at that time) when I saw for the first time the Jumbo Jet take off at BRU's airport.
It was the PanAm flight NYC-BRU-AMS ! It was really wow !!
But I remember that before seeing the Jumbo in reality, I found it unattractive because of the unfinished upperdeck and the "big nose" oulook it gave to the a/c.
My judgement is now totally different.
So let's look forward seeing the new Giant Jet in reality !!

It was in fact JFK-AMS-BRU.

But I had exactly the same impression: what an ugly plane. It looks like a flying iron!

Now too my impression has changed.

I agree with Erwin that the A380 is not very sexy, but I will soon learn to like it, when I will think at the technological achievement it represents.

Indeed Andre JFK .
But if I remember well I think it was landing twice the same day so JFK-BRU-AMS. AMS-BRU JFK it must have been or am I wrong ?
Anyway not important ;o)

Wednesday indeed. Now it depends of the wind direction also. The A380 isn't able to flyover Toulouse so they can use the Concorde runway in one way only.

weather conditions for Toulouse look good: 20°, no rain, cloudy a.m., sunny p.m., moderate wind

(sorry, seems only available in Dutch)

Tomorrow looks great. Is the Runway long enough? I head rumored that Airbus was concerned about the length

Airbus A380 to fly on Wednesday

European aircraft maker Airbus has scheduled the maiden flight of its giant A380 jumbo jet, the world's largest passenger plane, for Wednesday.

Reports BBC News, read more here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4481733.stm

If weather permits the first flight will happen Wednesday. Live broadcast on television! We should keep an eye on French tv, CNN and/or BBC World tomorrow!

I am in a test-week at school right now, but that is no problem. Actually it is an advantage, because I only need to be in school from 9AM until 11AM.

Despite I think that the A380 is butt-ugly, I sure will be watching this historic event! :P

Hi all and hello as this is my first time on this forum, just thought i would say that it will be very exciting to watch that first take off and landing,i am sure we all know that she will fly ,i remember the first flight of the Boeing 777 ,she "flew" the day before while doing a high speed run ,[although nobody saw it!! ],its just a shame that they hav'nt got the airports sorted out around the world ready for the A380 ,still they have only had twenty or so years to do it in!! although i have never been an Airbus fan this big bird has changed my mind and i for one can't wait now to see her fly, all the best . :D
