Air India will inaugurate services from London :arrow: Kolkata :arrow: Dhaka. from June 4th,2005.

The flight will operate 3 times a week.

AirIndia plans to operate 6 flights *B777* :wink: a week into the Dhaka.

Tentatively from June 2005 it will run 3 flights a week on the Dhaka to London route via Calcutta

And 3 flights a week to the US via New Delhi. 8)

E-ticketing has been implemented on the India/USA/India, India/UK/India andUK/USA/UK routes as well as on all our domestic flights except to/from Goa,Calicut and Lucknow.

BOMBAY, May 11 (Reuters) - India's state-run international carrier Air-India on Wednesday rejected complaints by aircraft maker Airbus about the airline's choice of rival Boeing Co. for an aircraft purchase.


Air-India in April approved the purchase of up to 50 long-range Boeing aircraft worth about 300 billion rupees ($6.9 billion), subject to government approval.


Air-India Chairman V. Thulasidas cited Indian media reports that quoted an Airbus official as saying the evaluation had been unfair.


"We understand the disappointment of Airbus at having lost the contract," Thulasidas told reporters, although he added: "It is our prerogative to decide what we need, not for the seller to dictate."


The order was a significant one for Boeing, which has vowed to end the dominance of its European rival. Airbus, majority-owned by EADS, has outsold the Chicago-based aircraft maker every year since 2001.


Thulasidas said Air-India had written to Airbus expressing its stand and had written to the Indian government.


David Velupillai, a spokesman for Airbus in Toulouse, France, said his company had received the letter from Air-India.


"Airbus will respond to it, making our position on the issue clear," he said.


"Airbus asks for a level playing field and an apples-to-apples comparison on aircraft. We're concerned about any aircraft evaluation that's not an apples-to-apples comparison and does not offer a level playing field," he added.


Thulasidas said Air-India's evaluation had been sent to India's chief vigilance commissioner and to the comptroller and audit general as a matter of procedure for their review.


"As of now, we are not considering any other action," he said. "The relationship between the two companies cannot be affected that easily. We need Airbus as much as we need Boeing."


In an interview last week, Indian Aviation Minister Praful Patel dismissed the row as a fight between two competitors and said it would not derail the Boeing purchase.


Air-India's order includes eight 777-200LR ultra-long-range aircraft, 15 of Boeing's 777-300ER and 27 of the new 787 long-range jets.

Air India returns to Canada after 20 YEARS with the launch of a inaugural flight in and out of Toronto.

If we all remember AI had suspended services to Canada following the crash of one of its Boeing 747 aka KANISHKA en route from Toronto to Mumbai via London on June 23rd 1985.

Air India will service the New Delhi - Amritsar - Birmingham - Toronto route 3x a week with a Boeing 777-200.

Before somebody corrects me:
Air-India had, in the past, operated flights on the Mumbai-Delhi-Amritsar-Moscow-Birmingham route from January 1982 to October 1984. Flights to Toronto are being launched after a gap of eight years.

NEW FLIGHTS FROM DHAKA AND KOLKATA TO LONDON

Effective 18th June 2005, Air India is commencing flights on the routing
Delhi/Dhaka/Kolkata/ London and vice versa
. These flights will be operated with B-777-200ER aircraft on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The B-777-200ER aircraft is configurates with 12 First, 49 Executive and 211 Economy class seats.

With these flights, Air India will be flying to Dhaka after almost 20 years.
These flights are also very significant for Eastern India as for the first time
Kolkata will have direct flights to London.

Passengers on board flights from New Delhi to London, Frankfurt and the Gulf can savour exotic culinary fare of Awadh (Lucknow) region.

The menus will be served for lunch and dinner in all three classes -- first, executive and economy -- and will be presented in collaboration with Ambassador's Sky Chef and Taj SATS Air Catering.

Air India will commence service to Seoul, South Korea from July 2005 with 4 weekly roundtrip flights linking Incheon airport with Delhi and Mumbai via Hong Kong.

The flights will be operated with Airbus 310-300 in 2-class configuration.

Flights will operate from Delhi to Seoul on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from Seoul to Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

we do not need all this, first get ur basics right, get some pretty air hostesses, have service quality improved, the crew on the aircraft behave as if they are doing a big favour to you, fit all aircraft with PTV with loads of entertainment. Improve basic airport handling facilities....the list goes on.
