Birdy A330 having problems?

Post by refledge »

Hi guys,

I noticed yesterday that the flight to Kinshasa was first delayed and then cancelled. Today, the flight to Banjul and Dakar is operated by an Airbus 310 according to biac. Does anybody know what is wrong with the other plane?

greets, refledge

Now flight SN203 to Dakar and Banjul is mentioned as operated by an A333 and delayed from 12:25 to 15:20.

Flight SN471 to Entebbe and Niarobi is delayed from 10:40 to 11:00 and operated by an A333.

Flight SN353 to Yaounde and Kinshasa is scheduled on time at 11:00 and operated by A333.

Everything seems thus to go back slowly to normal.

This brings again a problem to my mind which I have never unstood.
Why has SNBA Birdy never taken the aircraft A330-200's OO-SFP, OO-SFT and OO-SFU instead of the M, N & O. I know it are the only 3 of 4 -300's but are smaller planes not better and have a greater autonomy ?(In the case of SNBA)
It is better to have TOO MANY pax than TOO FEW.

They have chosen the oldest A330's in the fleet, where as VG Airlines took the most recent ones.

In my mind VG Airlines didn't have many problems with them.(Q, R & S)

777: looking at the current load factor, SN needs the additional capacity of the A330. Furthermore, the A333 can take more cargo.

the real problem on the OO-SFO

Post by redcap »

The real problem why the FIH was cancelled yesterday is due to a birdstrike upon arrival yesterdaymorning when the plane came back from NBO .

The technicians really had a hard job repairing the engine , thats why they scheduled the plane to leave on the last african flight to DKR , and even by then it was impossible to repair it in time ,so it caused some extra delay on the DKR-flight .

And as far as i know there was no A310 foreseen ... maybe a bug on the biac site ? 8)

Thanks, redcap, for the final explanation. But then, why was one flight cancelled in addtioin to a huge delay on another one?

Things are happily back to normal.
