Dessault Mercure 100

Post by heathrow »

I was searching Airliners.net recently, and stumbled upon this aircraft! Image I thought it was a lovely little French mock-up of the B737. Does anyone have any information about this aircraft?

I believe it was the french counter move for the B737 but it had unfortunatly insufficient range to compete ( I believe +- 400km vs +- 3000km). On a technological level it was more advanced than the B732 and pilots prefered the Mercure over the B732. They both had the same engines but unfortunatly only 11 Mercures actually flew for an airline and the only operating carrier was French Air Inter. even flag carrier air France and Belgian Sabena selected the B732 in favour of the Mercure.

I liked the look of this aircraft. It's too bad it was a dud!

Perhaps we will see in the future, a come back from Dassault into the regional jet market based on a streched bi-engined Falcon 7X.

Just a crazy idea...

Seb.
