Bye Bye OO-LTU!

Post by Sabena_690 »

Hi all,

OO-LTU, a Virgin Express B737-300 (c/n27455) is scheduled to be delivered to BMI British Midland - BMI Baby later this month (April 2005).

Its new registration will be G-TOYE.

Has this aircraft left the VEX-fleet already?

Don t think they will replace it.

VEX is getting smaller and smaller lately.

A/C is at SNT for painting.

What will happen with the rest of the fleet ? For example OO-VEK ?
OO-VEK is from 1989 and looks inside a little bit outdated.

Was OO-LTU a leased plane or did VEX sell it to BMI ?

And OO-VBR? I still saw it in BRU on 1 April (not a joke!).

The latest press release of Virgin Express said the fleet would be reduced to 10 planes in 2005. Is OO-LTU the one that disappears this year?

I've read this morning in the newspaper that they will not extend 1 leasingcontract ( OO-LTU :?: ) and for the rest of the fleet is it waiting until 2007 when the leasingcontract ends. SNBA leasingcontract ends also in 2007
:!:
Best regards,

Hello

Some sources (seems to be old sources) says that VEX flies a whole B737-400 fleet , after they replaced their whole 733 fleet in late 1990's.....

When I start counting the number of 733's an 734's of VEX , it seems there are also quit lot of 733's in the fleet until today....almost as much as 734's....

I give you as much as possible reg's of them;

OO-VEJ---734
OO-VEK---734
OO-VEP---734
OO-VES---734
OO-VBR---734
OO-VEH---733
OO-VEG---733
OO-VEN---733
OO-VEX---733
OO-LTM---733
OO-LTU---733

OO-VEA---733----OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-COH---320----OUT OF SERVICE!!!

I even see that VEX had leased a 320 for a short time.....

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/741628/M/

Than I have another question , I have a picture of a landing Avro with VEX titles in the tail...but because it's a pic of the back of the plane...I don't know what kind of Avro/BAe exactly and the REG...does anyone knows?

Looks like the source I mentioned above was totally wrong!
Even I'm kind a amazed of this result , never counted them like this.....
11 planes were from 5 734's and 6 733's......unbelievable...didn't knew VEX had more 737-300's than 737-400's 8O , I thought it was the other way :D

Idd , maybe the fleet is going to be positioned with 10 planes instead of eleven , so they have 5 from each type?

Maybe it's still time to replace to some planes for new ones.... :D
Maybe again 320's :P ? Although I really like those VEX-shorties...... 8)

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Hello Yannick,

Virgin Express has a rich history... some planes went to an Irish subsidiary "Virgin Express Ireland" in the late 1990's and received an EI-reg, to return to Belgium and receive the OO-reg back again later. They also leased some A320's and even a L1011 if my memory serves me well. From the more recent fleet, some more members left. I remember the regs OO-LTL ; OO-VEF ; OO-VJO ; OO-LTP ; OO-VEO ; ...

Regards, Robin Bamps.

EDIT: They also operated B737-200's (also leased ones I guess)

Hello

Some corrections in the fleet record.

OO-VEF---734 (still in Service???)
OO-VEO---734---(still in Service???)

If these two planes are still in the current fleet they DO have more 734's.....

some more ex-VEX aircraft (tried to be so correct as possible...but there are most likely even more).

OO-VEB---734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-VEC---733--OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-VED---734--OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-TVA----734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-TVB----734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-TVO----733--OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-TVQ---734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-COH---320---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
EI-TLP----320---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-LTW---733--OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-LTY----733---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-LTL----733---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-LTV----733---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
OO-LTP----733---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
F-GMTM---734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!
F-GMTO(?)---734---OUT OF SERVICE!!!

That's pretty lot of EX-VEX planes in my opnion
:P

Best regards; Yannick ;)

VEF out of service since May 2004, to Air One.
VEO out of service since February 2004, to Axis Airways.

i remember that L1011, they had a lot of problems with that bird.

I flew it, about two days before it was taken out of the air because it wasn't airworthy anymore. :P
