The B777s leased from UNITED AIRLINES remain the same inside....
have PTVs in all classes, even in economy class. Even the same United airlines seats are in the plane in all 3 classes. The only thing they changed are the cloths on the headrests. Even the design on the cabin divider has the United coloed stripes on it..lol
I guess with all the leased planes Air India has "diversified" its interiors quite a bit from plane to plane

Here you go....here is a trip report from an AI 777 flight, which I found on Airliners.net complete with interiors and shots of all of the seats from UA which were passed along

Its funny looking at these and remembering the economy and business seats which I sat on on Uniteds 777...and they are now with Air India too

You can experience planes of other airlines on Air India, my colleagues flew BOM-LAX which was an ex SIA 747, you can still see the old blue coloured seats of SIA,( though it is an ex SIA, I would still prefer flying on Singapore airlines, the service is too good). NY-DEL ex Korean Air - you do feel it.
When will Air India buy its own planes and have some standard ?( good responsive staff, crew, PTV)
its really pathetic, when on earth will they improve, when will the corruption stop ? When will they become a world class carrier ? It has the potential but no one wants to take it ahead. Privatisation may help AI achieve the level of SIA, CX.

I guess the world isn't waiting for my opinion ans sense of taste, but siince this post is about colours and design...
I don't much like the colour scheme of Air India. Even more, I think it's a pity that an important world player like Air India, representing a booming nation and a wonderful cultural tradition that goes back to the very cradle of humanity, can't think of anything nicer. If you know the cost of painting a large-body aircraft, finding the budget for a better desing and an able designer among such large population shouldn't be the problem !
This would have been a good moment to do so.
