Rekkof to expand range to 130 seats...???

Post by beaucaire »

Under the section "developments" Rekoff speaks about a possible expansion to 130 seats with larger range...
That would seem quite a bold move and a direct attack against A&B

Bombardier is entering that market too, soon nobody will be able to make any profit there...

well before Fokker went bankrupt they made a flying prototype of the Fokker 130, a plane with 130 seats. So they don't need new designing etc....

Before launching the F130, they'd better re-start producing the F100 and F70.

They might got a discount on a cadcam / 3D computer program. In the weekend the son of the MD maybe made some drawings on his pc and now they have a 130 person airplane.
Truth is that since the collapse of Fokker we have not seen a new Fokker been build. Right?

Anyway, as I have said earlier, I do like the jet powered Fokkers. They are stable in flight, give enough space and are silent. I would just love it to see them enter production again. But seriously speaking, I have my doubts. The design is of the seventies. Boeing stopped the 717 production and the competition by Embraer and Bombardier is state of the art.
Nobody is waiting for the F-130...and that is not a Starfighter.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Amen to that.
To be honest I don't believe in this project anymore. They are talking about it since a long time now and don't seem to get any further......

Talk with some Captains and FO's and you will see they all have the deepest respect for Fokker build aircrafts. May I remind you the last newly build Fokker 100 left construction facility in 1996. This is not a 70's project sine in that time they were having their hands full on the F27 and the F28. I know the F28 was the former F70 but believe me these planes can not be compared. Also with the (hopefully) new build Fokker 70's the cockpit will get the newest equipment available and with the all known quality of the fomer Fokker aircrafts. Economicly value of a Fokker is high, cheap in maintenance and fuel at a very acceptable cost. A lot of airlines will order again the Fokker 70's and KLM will be one of them.
Let the future tell what is going to happen. Construction will be done at SPL East since all construction material is still placed in the former hangar, ready to be starten up.

The Fokker jets are designs of the seventies. It took them a long time to get into serial production.
And it is quite normal that in case the production would start again, the planes would get the latest equipment. The competition uses also modern equipment.
But no, I am afraid we will see no more Fokkers been made. And it doesn't mean a thing that all the tool and jigs are still available . They are useless and only valid the price of scrap metal. No more Fokkers, end of it.

That's all very nice. But will Fokker really be able to come back in a successful way? Their planes are for sure very good, but will Rekkof be able to compete against Bombardier and Embraer who now have the biggest market share?

It would be nice to see the revival of the Fokkers, but they constantly postpone their re-launch date and this is not a good sign.

I wish them all the best though.

nice, another "Will REKKOF build new Fokker's or not" topic
(well at least it's not A vs. B ;) )

Seriously, I think like many here. It's been around for so long that the restart is imminent, and that important orders are being negotiated, and so on, that I don't believe in this project anymore. Partly this has to do with the already discussed fact that this jet is a 70's design from the "hardware" POW. The only easy upgrade on the HW are the engines. For the rest you are looking at a redesign. And in the same category you have newer designs by Embraer and Bombardier. Then again those are not european planes, but scince when are europeans "patriotic" towards europe :?:

Wait and see,
TriStar :?

about the engines: some people think you screw off the old pod, get a new engine from the Aldi and bolt it on. Off you go.
sounds a bit like bangladeshi engineering

Hi Everyone,
My first post on this forum and its in the form of a question.
From what I've heard so far on this subject, Rekkof were going to give it until the end of this month and then decide either to re-launch or abandon the F70.
Does anyone have any idea which way it will go?

Thanks

Scotair

So far they received orders for 25 F70's.
Sources say this is a Iranian airline.
Orders for 80 aircraft are needed to start up production, it seems there is interest from KL/AF, LH and more european airlines.
The website shows that the management team is formed so it seems everything is still in progress.
