the shop you guys are talking about is Rue du pont close to the walloon parliament for those who know namur. I have bought quite a lot of models there but it s a very messy shop with no order whatsoever so I have decided not to go there any more. I mainly buy herpa models and they never get the latest one. that is why I now go to brussels or ostend.
best regards

Hello

Maybe a little late but I know a pretty big model-shop in Antwerp.

Adress: Eirenmarkt 31a Antwerp , Herman Verschooten model shop , in the shop-block in the parking over KB-tower in Antwerp.

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Hello

Indeed Sab319. And it's not the only store were it's happening; also a little modelshop in downtown 'Herentals' were they used to have pretty interesting planes doesn't have that much 'Herpa' wings anymore...not to tell you that it are all kind a old ones...:(

I also know another store behind the big market in Brussels centrum , but it's another street that earlier mentioned in this topic think , I don't know sure but I think...but they hadn't got THAT much planes .....just max 45-50 planes I guess.

And in the shop at the 'Eierenmarkt 31a' at Antwerp (Herman Verschooten) , they have a stock with 20times the same plane almost...handy if you really need a plane if there are already sold some of that ....but it's something less if you expect updates every couple of months...because than first the stock must go away....:(

But I don't know how many they had several years ago , only know this shop myself a year so...but I have no complaints about it....except that sometimes it's pretty expensive...., I bought some of my nicest models there in the time it was VERY interesting there.....JAL 744 , PR 744 , MP 763 , KL 744 internet promo....KL 744 new colors...CI 744....name it...they had it...even my AF1 new generation.... :P :P :P

But you can better always try that one.

Best regards: Yannick ;)

No, it's not Comet, the shop i'm talking about is on the grasmarkt I think...
Indeed Stoney, in the "Grasmarkt / Marché aux herbes" area you have two interesting shops:
- Brand SPRL/BVBA 60, Marché aux Herbes/Grasmarkt
Phone 02/512.48.93

- Brussels Model Shop: located on the 1st floor of a toy-shop for (small) children.
Grasmarkt/Marché aux Herbes, 36
Phone 02/512.29.56
Fax 02/512.23.56

Regards

BeN
As regards the center of Brussels, I checked this very morning , and I am afraid there have been some changes :

- the (very good) shop at 60 rue du Marché aux Herbes unfortunately doesn't exist any more (it's now a druggist "Di")
- the shop on the first floor of what is now a "Bart Smit" toy shop (in the same street) has moved to 39-41 rue de la Montagne (not far away, nearer to the cathedral). It's called "Model Shop" and is mainly "car" - but there are also train and aircraft.

There was a shop on the even numbers side of the rue du Lombard, which seems also to have disappeared.
On the other side of that street is a shop called "Historic marine and aviation" who is mainly marine and rather "de luxe" not at all "Herpa and Revell" !

I didn't have time to look for more to-day, but I will try and find other shops in Brussels.

I checked this morning :

"Point 50" at 50, boulevard Lemonnier, 1000 Brussels (metro Anneessens).
A well-stocked shop, with a helpful lady shopkeeper.
They have models of Airbuses and Boeings by Dragon, and a good choice of military and civil models by Revell - but no Herpa.

On the other side of the street, in front of Point 50, "Pêle-Mêle" had a few second-hand Herpa boxes.

The museum shop of the "Musée de l'Armée" (Brussels, Parc du Cinquantenaire - Jubelpark), sells aviation models, mainly military, very few civil.

I have seen : Easy Model, Armour, Revell (also snap-kits), Heller, Airfix, Italeri, Ultimate Soldier, etc...
Models of belgian aircraft or in belgian colors :
- SV4B and Gloster Meteor by JP Productions
- Avro 504N by HR Models
- Morane Saulnier H by Omega
- Fairey Battle by Bilek

The Museum is open from 9 to 16h30 - closed on monday.

Seen this morning:

FEROBI, 237, chaussée d'Ixelles, Ixelles (Brussels).
A very large choice :
Military : Hobby craft, Trumpeter, Fujimi, Airfix, Heller, Zuezda, FM, ESCI, Kangnam, ICM, Monogram, accurate miniature, MacKit, MRC, Academy, Revell,...
Civil : Toko, Heller, Minicraft, Revell (City Bird Boeing 767-300 and 737-800).
No die-cast models.
Unfortunately, the owner plans to retire and close his shop in 5-6 month time. A sale is in progress, with a 30 % rebate, but there will be no restocking, and the choice will progressively narrow...

A much smaller choice at CHRISTIAENSEN, 104 chaussée d'Ixelles :
Italeri, Academy, Heller, Revell, mainly military, but also one each Revell Fokker 100, Citation I, Learjet 35A, Falcon 10. A few Schuco Junior boxes.

Seen to-day :

"Au 16e Escadron"
Avenue de l'Armée, 136
1040 Brussels
Metro : Thieffry (at 50 m)

The largest assortment of aircraft models I have found in Brussels until now.
Knowledgeable and friendly owner.

Civil : Revell, Airfix, Hobby craft, Mini Craft, Italeri, Heller, Academy, Hasegana, Legato, Eastern Express, ...

Military : MPM, Hasegawa, FW, Pavla, Italeri, Special Hobby, Azur, AML, Amodel, Tamiya, Octopus, Historic, Mach, Airfix, Revell, Heller, Academy, Trumpeter, JP Pruduction (made in Belgium), Classic Airframes, XKit, ...
HR model (Czech) has models of Renard R31, R40, and R42 (a strange aircraft arranged like the Twin-Mustang !)
Die-cast : Easy Model

Recommanded by the Brussels South Model Club

On the other corner : the "Librairie de l'Escadron" (at 1, rue de l'Escadron).
A bookshop specialised in wars, armies, military affairs and history - and an astonishingly large range of books about military aviation.

Seen yesterday :

MINIMODELES
40, boulevard du Jubilé
1080 Brussels
Metro : Ribeaucourt (at 100 m)
Closed on monday

The shop is usually closed, and you have to ring the bell in order to bring the owner to open the door. This is advertised as beeing allowed only to genuine customers. As I was there just to have a look around, I didn't dare to ! I looked at the shop window and saw Corgi Aviation Archive, Easy Model, Academy, Trumpeter, Revell...

And to-day :

AVIONIC
116, rue Middelbourg
1170 Bruxelles (Boistfort)
(near the Place Wiener)
closed monday

Mainly flying models, and everything for them.
Also some static models : Tamiya, Academy, Airfix (a Bristol 170 !), Heller...
All the models currently on catalogue can be ordered.
Most knowledgeable and congenial family of owners.

Hit upon a rather special shop this morning :

HOCOMO
260, chaussée de Boondael (near corner with Boulevard Général Jacques)
1050 Brussels (Ixelles)

The owner is emphatic : in this shop, no plastic models, only wood models to build !
of Paul K. Guillow (Wakefield, MA).
www.guillow.com
There are half a dozen such boxes in store, but every model currently in the catalogue can be ordered.
Examples :
- WWI fighters such as Nieuport 11 and Fokker Triplane - 1:12 scale - approximate build time : 30 hours.
- private planes such as Super Cub, Ce 150 : 1:18, 20 hrs
- WWII fighters : Spitfire, Me 109,...1:16, 30 hrs
- DC3, B25 Mitchell, ... 1:32, 45 hrs
- F-14, F-15 1:40, F-16 1:30 , 15 hrs
- Stuka, Corsair, P38 Lightning, ... 1:16
- B17G Flying Fortress, B24D Liberator, PBY5a Catalina 1:28
and many others...

Also "Air Loisirs" flying models.
and everything useful : glues, colors, etc.

Competent shop owner.

Shop for civil airline models are hard to find in Belgium. For some years i ordered my Herpa stuff in Aalst (Modelbouw), they even give a discount-card of 5%. However i noticed that even the pre-ordered stuff was available for months in Holland or Germany before they had them in stock.

So now i order through the Aviation Centre Berlin or the Aviation Mega store in Holland via Internet. Furthermore.. even with my discount in Belgium and the cost for UPS from Germany (8 Euro for the first 4 kgs), the aviation shop is still cheaper!!!!
