Paper today (Het Laatste Nieuws, biggest Belgian newspaper) is saying that the first flight is delayed by as much as four weeks. Airbus says they'll make it before the end of April though. It's a good tactic though: say now it'll take another 4 weeks, shoot for 2 weeks.

Biggest does not necessarily mean most serious or most reliable :?

this is from the alta vista translator:
The A380 Airbus, which must accomplish in the second fortnight of April its first flight, was transferred Wednesday afternoon from its hall of assembly towards the service of the flight tests, where it will undergo the last preparations, a journalist of AFP noted. This prototype number one of the giant plane was slowly tractor drawn little after 14h00 out of the gigantic hall of the factory Jean-Luc Lagardere de Blagnac, to be carried out to some thousands of meters from there to the zone of the flight tests, where the planes are parked in circle in front of what the old ones of Airbus name it to "abreuvoir". Do they need more time because the duct tape they used to stick the A380 disguise onto the 747 didn't hold? ;-)

BTW please do not stick such long URLs verbatim into your post! This is the way to do it. The long link now messed up the whole page.

May be they could bring a wooden one, just like they did with the concorde at the Paris Airshow.

By the way any further updates about the evacuation tests ?

Goodmorning,
Seems that the A380 will not perform demo-flights at Bourget this year :(
Let's hope they change their opinion about that.

A380 will be present in Le Bourget but will not take part in the demonstrations in flight

A380, which must accomplish its first trial flight before the end of the month, will be present at the aeronautical show of Le Bourget from the 13 to June 19 but will not remain all the duration of the show and will not take part in displays of air strength, declared Wednesday the general manager of Airbus, Gerard Blanc.

Airbus presents traditionally at least two of its models at the time of the air meetings of the aeronautical shows. Without making stunt-flying like the fighters, these apparatuses show their capacities during six minutes demonstrations.
But in margin of the signature of a Franco-Dutch cooperation agreement in aeronautical research, Mr. Blanc specified Wednesday with Blagnac that "the aircraft will fly to Le Bourget" and that "il will be presented there in statics but not in flight "because it will be" a plane of test ".

And "it will not remain in Le Bourget during all the show because of an extremely tight test routine."

And the starting dates of arrival of the aircraft to the 46ème international aeronautical show of Le Bourget are not yet completely defined, according to a spokesman of Airbus which does not exclude that "the plane can make a passage in front of the public".

This year, three days consecutive, Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday June 19, will be accessible to general public, according to organizers'.

If it will not remain there, then there will be a chance to see it take off and fly away.

The composition of the crew can be found here.

So it appears we have:

-3 frenchs
-1 german
-1 spanish
-1 english

Too much frenchs for an european project, I think :? ...

Regards

Seb.

Am I correct in thinking that the chief instructor for A380 pilots is Belgian? Why isn't he in the first crew?
