Booking for AI budget air travel to resume in UAE
Dubai, Apr 1 (UNI) The hopes of budget air travel of Gulf Indians, which were dashed when online booking on the no-frills airline of Air-India crashed, are likely to be restored in the next few days, officials have assured.
The snag on Air-India Express (AIE)'s web-based booking prevented users from reserving seats since the site became operational.
''Our technical team is working on the problem and things would be normal in a couple of days,'' Ms Jaishree Ramachandran, A-I marketing manager for Dubai and Northern Emirates, told The Gulf Today.
She assured that the ''teething problem'' would be rectified well before the April 29 launch of the airline.
Some passengers who booked tickets using credit cards failed to get confirmation from the booking engine although the ticket fares were debited from their accounts.
The website www.airindiaexpress.in has been receiving thousands of hits every day.
Passengers using Indian rupee denominated credit or debit cards were making their reservations till the system developed some snag a few days ago.
Payments through global cards issued by Gulf-based banks would take another week to become operational when the website gets fully customised to accept plastic money in other currencies.
AIE will take wings with a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi with a VIP delegation on board.
The low cost carrier will also run services between Dubai and Kochi and Kozhikode. After initially connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Muscat, the airline plans to expand operations to other Gulf stations like Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Bahrain, Kuwait and Doha.

Yes, Brakes_78 is right. Also the TRAVEL AGENT ASSOCIATION industry has decided not to sell AirIndia or AirIndia Express tickets as the AIRLINE decided to reduce the agent commission to 4% from the existing 7%.
Now that is not healthy for the agents to do. Let the customer's benefit. Last we learn that an AMWAY launches and AIRLINE to remove the barrier between the actual flying passenger and the airline
