Trip report Amsterdam-Aruba with drawings

Post by MD-11 »

As most of you already know my wife and I went on honeymoon to Aruba on August 16th, 2004.
Since I made some new drawings I thought it would be nice to make a trip report using drawings instead of pics.
We took of from RWY24"Kaagbaan"at Amsterdam, Schiphol.
This time I could watch the spotters standing near the RWY instead of standing there myself.
Image
We flew PH-KCF"Annie Romein" and took of with 257.1 tons of which 84.7 tons fuel.
Rotation speed was 165 knots or 297kph or 185mph
We were sitting in seats 38A&B, only 2 abreast and almost in the tail.
Image
Here we are flying on FL320, position 30°W-40°N close to the Acores.
Made this drawing from this pic
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/225191/M/
All seats were filled.
When we were approaching Guadaloupe the crew invited us in the cockpit and we stayed there for at least 45 minutes.
I was able to make this picture.
Image
At that time the parameters read: FL370, IAS 268 kts, GS 482 kts, TAS 477 kts, wind 338°/19 kts, OAT -52°C, N1 90.1%, N2 96.2% , EGT 652°C and fuel flow 2300kgs/hr per engine.
We had three pilots: a captain, a first ( Belgian ) and a second officer.
After 9 hours and 30 minutes the fun was over and we landed on RWY 10 at TNCA/AUA Queen Beatrix airport in Oranjestad.
Image
We landed with a weight of 184.8 tons and a speed of 149 kts, or 268kph or 167mph, having used 72.3 tons of fuel.
When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

Awsome drawings, thanks for sharing.

Also a very nice idea to make this kind of (picture) trip report.

Keep up the good work!

That's a nice and original way of doing your flight report, with your usual excellent artwork.

You were lucky to get to the flight deck, I thought it wasn't allowed since 9/11, obviously I was wrong.

one of the most original trip reports I've ever seen! I've seen picture reports, but drawing reports? :)
Nice one :D
