Seb i am thankful to you for this post. It has not only suggested that crew and flight attendants are at risk but also frequent travellers who are not only unaware but also ignorant about the whole radiation issue.
Aum Sweet Aum.

The crews on Concorde were even more exposed. Did AF and BA take similar measures?

certainly interesting to hear. I wonder if similar airlines will take this same measure as well.

Yes,

crews on the Concorde didn't have to do that much flights per month.

Bad news but very interesting. This is something that requests some research.

The report said officials felt it unnecessary as customers do not fly enough to be at risk.

I am shure there are quite a lot of (business-) travellers who make the trip more than twice a month. This would mean that they are also vulnerable, so perhaps limits are necessary (I hope local officials have done what is necessary).

Long-haul? Probably very few. And even so they are much less exposed inside the cabin than the pilots in their cockpit.

This is an old subject to which I already referred months ago regarding the fact that pilots have a shorter life than other professions.
Besides of the radiation, there is the constant intake of airconditioned air, environments with plastics that give away toxic vapours, the intake of polluted air at airports, impact of constant time zone changes, prefabricated food with too much salt and preservatives, al those things.
But rather be a pilot than a miner I would say.

It is not only on that route though!! Routes such as LAX-LHR, JFK-NRT, NRT-LHR also have the same issues!! Personally, my dream route is ORD-HNL so I hope I won't have to worry about that. :?
