I know that SFN and SFM have to get a C or D-check in autumn, and probably they'll get their new colours then. But SFO has had it allready if I am informed well, and it has still the old colours. Anyway, I hope they will not paint it soon, because I have a nice own hand-made model of OO-SFN, and then it would be out of date.

Refledge,

look at it this way. If the a/c get a new c/s your model will become a collectors item, and thus be more valuable.

If you look at it that way, I am rich as well :) I have two old Sabena's and an outdated swissair  (don't like that one, but hey, I had it before the problems). I think I'm gonna make some citybirds and VG planes in the future :)

Guys,

I have 3 Sabena models  but :offtopic:

Does someone has an idea of the cost for painting the plane?

airbustke,

The witch plane scale 1:1 or 1:300?
The scale 1:1 need always to be repainted during a D-check, it is a standard operation.

Hello,

as far as i know no Birdy A330-300 had a D-check, only C-checks. I heard somewhere that in a few weeks an A333 will leave for Changi to have a D-check.
Airplanes are always repainted when having a D-check, this confirms why the previous checks were only C-checks as the plane wasn't repainted.

airbuske, i have no idea about the cost of repainting, but as it is part of the D-check, it will make no difference in repainting the aircraft in the new colours.

Thx OO-VEX!

liebensd , my models are in 1:200 scale.
I know that repainting during a D-check, a standard operation is.
But what does it cost?

And? Why repainting the avro's in new colours if they are replacing the fleet in the future?

Greetings

The A330's are having their "D" checks. It is a very long process as everything has to be opened, dismounted, checked or replaced and remounted to have something looking as an aircraft again. The first one (and I don't know the sequence order) is leaving to Singapour the 23rd? of September. The second one, end of October and the last one sometime in February next year.

To fly there, crews were drawn amongst the volunteers (well everyboby was!!). For the return flights, it will be flown by staff pilots as there are some test flights to be performed for acceptance.

Painting job? I don't know!! Those aircraft are still leased by Birdy and nothing has been decided yet about what will happen in october 2004. Or if decided, it is not yet public.

Why SIN? That I don't know either!!! just guesses: price? lessor requirement? availability? Anyway, it suits me if I were to be sent there.

Happy landings
