Forgive me my ignorance, but where are the cities "CAN", "PVG" and "NGO" situated?

CAN = Guangzhou (China) (the former CANton)
PVG = Shanghai (China)
NGO = Nagoya (Japan)

Why not Tokyo?

Indeed it seems a lot , but if only half of this routes will actually be flown , I think we may be happy.

It's nice to see that some companies are interested in a possible BRU long haul operation.

Now let's hope that many of them will fly to BRU as well

Premier Verhofstadt mentioned both routes in an interview on 'Een' (Flemish TV). Tough, wait and see..

EDIT: interview was about the official opening of the new control tower @ BRU.

Nice. If all these routes take place we will finally have a market in Asia. I'm sure there are plenty of costumeres ready to go there. So let them all come, we are ready for them here at BRU!

We'll see how it goes over the next few years. Any ideas if SN will try and take advantage of this supposed increse in long haul travel out of their own airport?

It would be good to get codeshares on these flights for SN and for the other companys. This way SN could work as a provider for the passengers on the long haul flights.

Codeshares are great, but wouldn't you love to see A340's, B747's again..... maybe more 330's or 777's? Then SN can get back to being a major player in the airline market again.

I sincerely hope that some of this routes will actually take a start, but... I'm also a bit afraid about the strong competition from some major neighbour airports i.e. AMS and CDG. Don't you think BRU will have to go out of the way to make at least some of the routes to a big succes? I prefer to wait and see.. Or am I too pessimistic?

I suppose that CAN and PVG would be served by Hainan if they choose BRU as their European hub.

I wonder which airline will serve this route?
JAL? They already fly to AMS, FRA, CDG, and LHR so why adding a new destination located in less than 30 min flying from one of their current destinations.
ANA? They just have closed their office in Brussels...
SNBA? With their ambitious long-haul plan?

So maybe it would be this Middle East group who is supposed to set a base in BRU and start flying to S.E. Asia via DXB?
