First I will check the news at night. Second I agree with the fact that it's very very damage for the PAX. Third publicity ok but very very bad publicity... Fourth TUI is the only one charter company who bet on leasing his own ship for long haul. We have to support a minimum them because yes now they are in trouble but in a few month avery thing will certainly be ok and the all belgium aviation will benefit of this "duty". It could be the spark how relight our world. It could be I say, not it will be. All depends how TUI will deal with their troubles...everything is in the hands of the DO.Flying-Belgian wrote:I have just seen the stranded pax on TV @ RTL tonight... What a pitty.
People invest money for beatifull hoildays and they end up waiting and waiting and waiting in the departure hall...![]()
Anyway, TUI has had a nice free of charge publicity.![]()

I fully agree with André. But you know like me that when TUI leased that aircraft, they sent one of their ops representative in Brazil. Those people for sure looked at the technical log of that airplane and therefore were aware of the plane's background. It's like when you buy a second hand car, isn't it ??sn26567 wrote:I agree wit Boeing737man that we should support TUI which is the only airline in Belgium having its own long-haul charter planes rather than using foreign operators. Talk about bad luck when they decided to get that B767 from Varig.
What happens here is a very embarassing situation for the travel agents selling TUI products and a very unacceptable situation for the people who paid more than 1000€ for their holidays. In this view, I fully agree with the new Euroean rules regarding compensation in such cases. You have profesionalism or you get out of the business.

Seen on BIAC today:
Arrivals: 0800; Montego Bay via Punta Cana TUB 8616, delayed 1007
1110; Varadero via Cancun TUB 8527, delayed 1200
1215 Punta Cana via Puerto Plata TUB 8636, Foreseen 1215
Have they three planes flying? Which one's? Is TUC 00 one of them? Are they repatriating all their blocked customers. Seems like a big mess, I hope they solve all these problems before my trip to DR in april.

I was very worried yesterday.
My girlfriend was going to punta cana on the 2nd of march from BRU with TUI, the board said it was a 763....
I was very worried because the plane was delayed for over 5 hours at BRU, and I was wondering if the TUI 767 had more problems or they were waiting for a replacement plane, my girlfriend did say they were waiting for a plane from amsterdam, if that helps ?
Many thanks for your time.

Montego Bay - Punta Cana - BRU and Punta Cana - Puerto Plata - BRU flights were performed by Holland Exell and both came back on thursday 2nd.
I came back from Montego Bay around 10 am on thursday and must say all pax were very delighted and happy we brought them back home, 2 days later then foreseen !

I can understand: two more days on vacation in a tropical paradise.Tjipke wrote:all pax were very delighted and happy we brought them back home, 2 days later then foreseen !
The situation is much worse for the people who departed two days late: a 7-day vacation shortened by 2 days is not worth the trip anymore.

Dear Bart....forget about that big smile
We used to have a very good contract with Thomas Cook Belgium and had more attractive destinations like Mombassa, Goa and Phuket.
For the moment we are standby everyday of the week in case TUI needs an aircraft. We have no more social life at the present moment.
The TUI group is also considering to take over Holland and Belgium Exel, which probably means new contracts and lower salaries.
Our future lies completely in their hands !
