easyJet and Brussels
Howdy,
If this has been posted before I appologize. I am suprised that easyJet does not serve Brussels? Is it because Virgin Express serves Brussels National and Ryan serves Brussels South? Ryanair has done little with its Brussels hub since the EU courts ruled against them on airport subsidies (is Michael O'Leary having a fit and punishing Brussels South?).
Any way, I am just curious what some of you think.
Thanks!

I know that in the past there has been a gentlemens agreement between Stelios (Easyjet) and Richard Branson (Virgin). They decided not to compete on the Brussels market.
This was a few years ago. In meantime a lot of changes have taken place, most of all the merger between Virgin Express and SN Brussels. I don't know if this will have an impact on the agreement.

Turnearound to long? Vueling has a turneround of between 40 and 50 minutes. Do you call that a long turnaround? Not in my opinion. What do they want, they just want to kick of the passnegers of the flight in a hurry and just reload it right away? And what about the crew, do they have to run in the cabin to clean it? And the refueling? Come on, 40 minutes is on bad, it is even a fast turnaround.
There first thing that comes in me: is this according to safety regulations? Can they unload all the pax and put new pax on the flight and still in between do the refueling. I know it is forbidden to board pax while refueling or desembarqing the pax. So I don´t get how they can do this without ignoring this rule.
re
yes but the easyjet route from Maastricht is according to the press release from easyjet to approach the regional market ( dutch South Limburg, Nordrhein- Westfallen => kreiss Aachen, Heinsberg and a bit of the ruhr area and the Belgium province Liege and Limburg ) its not to approach the 3 whole country`s ) and i don`t think that somebody who is living in Brussels, Gent, Antwerp travels to Maastricht to take the easyjet flight to Berlin............afrikair wrote:Hi
May be the new Easyjet route from Maastricht means new approch for EZY
It seems from MAA that route to Berlin is "a first one"

fueling while boarding passengers is allowed when: the airport agrees, in most cases fire department must be on stand-by, all exits are available in case of evacuation, and a few other rules I might forget.
Ryanair can make fast rotations because: they don't need to heavily clean the aircraft as no (little) service was provided on board. Baggage-handlers don't need to check if a bag has a connection-flight, they just need to unload and bring it to the terminal. If your airline is low-frills rotation can go really fast.
Correct André, and passengers need to get their seat ASAP and are certainly not allowed to smoke.sn26567 wrote:Safety belts must be unlocked.luchtzak wrote:fueling while boarding passengers is allowed when: the airport agrees, in most cases fire department must be on stand-by, all exits are available in case of evacuation, and a few other rules I might forget.
But we are drifting away from the original topic right ?

I was in my AMS-WAW KLM plane at the gate in AMS, we were all sitting and the pilot told us to NOT lock seat belts as the plane was being refueled. This was at the gate, only the walkway was in place, no other stairs at the other exits.
As to turnaround times, why doesn't someone make modular planes? Plane arrives, passenger/baggage section slides out of the plane, new section already filled with pax and baggage slides in, plane takes off. During the switch the plane is also being refueled. I also imagine that the plane is actually moving around while this is all going on, the process starts as soon as it gets off the runway, and by the time it's done, the plane is back at the start of the runway to take off. Kind of like some of those ski-lifts, where the gondola is taken off the cable at each endpoint.
